Even on our relatively quiet backstreet in the Embassy area of Garden City, the honking and beeping of the Cairo traffic managed to wake us up early. The fact that we were still sort of on Bangkok time meant that sleeping in until 6:00 am was like 11:00 am for us, so for once we had Benjamin up and awake early. The hotel/hostel has a relatively small reception area where the breakfast is served, so we waited for one early group to clear out before taking our turn. Our first Egyptian breakfast, which turned out to be quiet typical, consisted of juice, bread, cheese, jam, and hard boiled eggs.
