When I was in Cuernavaca we took a weekend trip to Mexico City where we stayed in Mexico City on Saturday and went to Teotihuacan on Sunday. The pyramids were quite impressive and I was glad we were able to take advantage of the opportunity to go to the top of both of them. [View Full Entry]

My junior year in college at UW-Eau Claire I participated in a study abroad program to Valladolid, Spain. I spent 5 months there and my travels in Spain included the following places; Leon, Salamanca, Segovia, Madrid, Sevilla, Palma de Mallora, Tenerife and other small cities around Valladolid. Valladolid is not what people typically think of when they think of Spain. I guess a typical Spainish city (according to what American tourists think) is supposed to be streets ligned with palm trees, beaches near by and parties all night long. Well, in Valladolid we did party all night . . . or [View Full Entry]

During February of 2002, when I was living in Spain I went to 1 of the 7 Canary Islands, Tenerife. The Canary Islands are a part of Spain and are located in the Atlantic Ocean, off of the African west coast. We went there for Mardi Gras. Most of the world knows the Mardi Gras celbration in Rio and New Orleans . . . but in Europe . . . it is well understood that the biggest party is in the Canary Islands. We were there for most of the celebration. They had daily parades and plenty of activities to do [View Full Entry]

Spain 2002 - Road Trips Europe » Spain
While I was in Spain I took some big trips but I also took many one or two day trips. I loved these trips because it gave me a reason not to do homework on Saturday, they were great ways to see many cities with a guided tour (Jesus) and every time my Spanish mom would prepare me a tortilla espanola in a bocadillo. This was serioulsy the greatest sandiwch of all time. I might go back to Spain some day just to eat one of those awesome sandwiches. But seriously the day tours were a lot of fun because our [View Full Entry]

My 5 day trip to Rome was certainly one of the highlights of my life. Here are some things that I will never forget. Re-enacting a gladiator fighter in the Roman Coliseum. Spending an afternoon relaxing in the Roman forum similar to how Romans did 2,000 years ago, eating authentic italian food, and seeing the sistine chapel. Here are a couple of recommendations that you may want to consider if you go to Rome. First, eat italian gelati 3 times a day and worry not about calories! Second, if you wait around the forum you may find a guy giving a [View Full Entry]

Before my spring break when I was in Spain I took a 5 day trip to London. While I was there I saw many of the typical sites such as Westminster Abby, the London eye, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge, and many other typical sites. We also went to see the play Les Miserables. My favorite site was probably the world famous British Museum which holds tons of artifacts from the Greek, Roman, and Ancient Near East history . . . which is my favorite part of history and what I spent a lot of time studying in college. The first big trip that I took when I was in Spain was an overnight bus ride to Lisbon, Portugal. We stayed there for 4 days. We had a good time in Lisbon as we went out to a few real good restaurants and bars. We walked around and saw many historical sites and also took a day trip to Sintra where there were 2 different castle complexes that we visited. [View Full Entry]

After my sophmore year at UWEC Jordan, Brock, Jeff, Nate and I went on a road trip to the east coast where we went to 5 different MLB stadiums. We were in NYC for about 3 days and saw the Yankees and the Mets. We also got to walk around Manhattan a couple of days and we got to see the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown which is located in upstate NY. My favorite part of the whole trip may have been when we were approaching NYC and we could see the skyline from like 40 min away . . [View Full Entry]

Our first stop on our east coast trip was in Baltimore and to the DC area. We were only in the area for a couple of days but we did take in a Orioles game and see some of the typical Washington DC sites. Before going to the Orioles game we stoped by the ESPN Zone and I do have to say that anyone who is a sports fan should eat in an ESPN Zone at some point . . . great food and a very fun atmosphere! The Orioles game was fun and I think that Camden yards was one [View Full Entry]
