The main eventHere is us at the east end of the parthenon . . . centerpiece of the acropolis
After one day we are thinking we may just stay in Athens for our whole trip . . . this town is awesome! Athena and Zeus have welcomed us very nicely! Yesterday after leaving our blogging audience we went for lunch at a little greek restaurant and had a huge meal. As advertised Steph had her Greek Salad and I had a solid Gyro . . . and I never thought a Gyro could taste so good. There is so much Greek food to try it is hard to believe that we only have a week here to get a taste of it all. We tried to fight the jet lag, but that and the heat wore us out quickly and we were sleeping by 6pm! This morning we woke up early (2AM.. ready to go!) and got an awesome view of the Acropolis outside of our hotel . . . they light it up at night and it is beautiful. Today our big accomplishment was going to the Acropolis. We wandered the Acropolis (to pay homage to our favorite Greek gods and godesses!!) and the Agora (birthplace of democracy) for about 4 hours. It is a great view of the

city from the Acropolis. LOTS of pictures already! So far we have learned a few things:
1) When searching for the Acropolis (or anything in Athens for that matter) don't assume that all streets will indeed look like streets!
2) When you get a gyro to carry make sure you eat it walking or the birds will attack you ~ birds are pysco everywhere we've decided
3) Parakalo and Yasas are 2 important words to learn (Thank you and Hello)
Today is again around 95 degrees and the sun is pouring down - not a cloud in the sky! It is HOT so it's nice to rest in this internet cafe for a bit. Now we are off to the flea market down the street. Tomorrow we may go to a play at an outdoor Greek theater. We leave Sunday morning for the island Santorini. We'll update when we get there! Off to see more of Athens....

Feel free to call me if you need anymore translations!! :) Or just search the internet like I did. Steph, you might have to be the brave one and save Andy from those birds, I can remember countless times he carried you on his back to the car from our house because there were frogs everywhere! Lol! Have a wonderful time you guys!!
