OI OI OI Hello all from OZ The day starts at about 3 am… with us freezing lol it was cold. Jason got up and fired up the furnace, which made things better. Wes crawled into bed with us as he got cold. The furnace works nice, but makes a bit of noise. The day part 2 starts around 7:30 we get up, and are a little more organized than yesterday. Breakfast is made and everyone gets showered. Today our destination is the Jenolan caves, apparently they’re very nice. I’m not sure what it is with us, but wherever we go we’re into some sort of cave. Carlsbad, NM, Maui, HI, even the caves up in Collingwood… we’ve been to them all; I wonder if Fiji will have some lol. Anyhow, the drive to the caves ... read more

We get a fairly early rise today, it sure was cool last night, and we didn’t have the heater on, but should have, at 2 o’clock in the morning it was too much fiddling to start it up. Jason makes breakfast for everyone (not quite the same as we’re used to, but ok for camping - it’ll get better.) We decide to use the park’s facilities for their showers, and they’re pretty good! The water is much better here than Sydney, as it turns out I’m having a pretty good hair day. We all get showered and set for the day. First stop Scenic World. This is I guess Australia’s version of the Grand Canyon. Not quite as spectacular, but pretty cool. We take a cable car across a small canyon that has a clear glass ... read more

This is our final day in Sydney, although there have been some very cool sites, and we’ve had a lot of fun we’re really looking forward to getting in the RV and doing some exploring. Our day started off by going down to the rocks area (again - this is a real nice part of town, with lots of good cafe’s and interesting shops.) We explored the Saturday market which sold lots of locally crafted items and trinkets; it was an outdoor covered flea market. We stopped at a local café which setup shop outside and cooked food to order. Really excellent and cheap breakfast, I would have definitely gone back here again. Nice view also, just a couple hundred feet from the waters edge, overlooking the opera house. After breakfast we went back to our ... read more

Today we're leaving Sydney via a 22' motorhome. We're headed towards the blue mountains to do some caving. Driving on the left hand side should prove interesting. Not sure when we'll have internet available again, but more text and photo's to come! TTYL Lee... read more

OI OI OI Hello all, Today we started out having breakfast at Pancakes on the Rocks, which is a nice 24 hour spot, kinda like Golden Griddle back home, only better. We took a stroll through the rocks neighborhood, saw some nice shops. We spent most of the day on the Sydney Explorer, a bus that takes you through the highlights of Sydney. We stopped at the Queen Victoria Building, a really old building that's now a shopping center. 4 or 5 levels inside, and some kind of busy! I think wandering around downtown during business hours may be a mistake with 3 kids, as it is very busy. For dinner we went back to the rocks and got take out from a place called noodle on the rocks. This place lets you choose the type ... read more

Hi All, Our third day in Sydney got off to a good start down in the Sydney Harbour Marriot restaurant. The service was great, as was the food. We got to try vegemite for the first (and definitely last) time. Hard to describe the taste, but it looks like dried up engine oil, and I think it tastes the same…nasty. After breakfast we took a walk down to circular quay to grab an explorer bus. We bought a 2 day pass to go pretty much anywhere in Sydney. We hopped on the Bondi Explorer bus, and were off. This bus takes a loop out to Bondi Beach. There are 19 stops on the way. We saw Woolloomooloo Bay, and a famous meat pie shop that has been there since 1945. The route follows the coast and ... read more

Wednesday started off real early (for us.) We managed to get out of the hotel by 8 am and did a "walkabout" around the neighborhood called the rocks. We ended up at a little place called the Gumnut cafe. It was a really old, built in the 1800's. The backyard was converted into an eating area courtyard. We stayed inside because it rained earlier and was damp. The food was pretty good. Jason and I are sticking to tea here cuz getting cream is tough to say the least. Even starbucks doesn’t have it. After breakfast we went down to the ferry docks and took a Harbour cruise that also included entry to the Taronga Zoo. While waiting for the ferry we walked down to the opera house. pretty impressive place when you're standing beside it. ... read more

Hello from OZ Yesterday was pretty much a write off. After we checked in to the hotel and got settled in we went down to the hotel restaurant for a breakfast buffet. It was nice, but was also over in about 20 minutes. Went back to our room and everyone slept about 18 hours until 6am Tuesday march 21st. Tuesday morning everyone was up bright and early and we headed out to walk around downtown Sydney. Quite a busy place and everyone driving is in mad rush! Driving the campervan is going to be fun! Anyways, we walked down to the harbor area, called circular quay, saw all the ferries, and a large cruise ship. We ended up in a small restaurant called the Sydney pancake house, which serves every kind of pancake imaginable. Breakfast was ... read more

Well after a 5 hour flight to vancouver, 6 hours to hawaii, and 10 hours to sydney we're finally here. The kids were very well behaved during the flight, we bribed kirk and wes with pokemon cards. There was alot of turbulance a hour or 2 out of sydney, and this morning i found out that a huge typhoon (huricane) hit the northern part of australia, we're going to be in that area in 2-3 weeks. They've issued warnings for the areas hit to look out for snakes and croc's as they've had a rough night. We arrived at 7 am local time (3 pm toronto time) so basically 25 hours of travel. The kids are sleeping now, and when they get up we'll go check out some of the local sites. Report more tomorrow ! ... read more
