Hello from LA Mad Crazy Day today! Our flight with Air Canada was originally scheduled to leave at 8:30, so we got up around 4:30, just to finish packing up, and return the car to get to the airport by 6:30. After Jason got up and took his shower he decided to confirm our flight. Our flight didnt exist, there was no 8:30 am flight to Toronto. Hey all from Beverly Hills! We got off to a late start today, as yesterday we had a really long day/night coming in from Fiji. We had a couple of options for things to do today, one being going to the Jay Leno Show, but we'd have to leave the kids in the hotel, the other was going to the Hollywood walk of fame during the day, then to Santa Monica at night. Thursday April 27th - Part 2 Hello from the city of angels! So we land, get our bags (there are a lot of them now!) and head off to Avis. We end up getting a Jeep Cherokee, and are surprised to find all our luggage fits! Jay programs the GPS with the Beverly Hilton’s address, and we’re off up the 405 freeway to Wilshire blvd. Thursday April 27th - Part 1 Bula from Fiji! Big day ahead of us, as today we’re leaving Fiji and headed for Los Angeles, specifically Beverly Hills. Real early start today, Jason got up around 5:30 still very tired, and took a shower outside watching the sun rise (really cool!) The kids got up around 7 am, to catch our 8:30 flight. Wednesday April 26th Today’s our final full day at Marau Vale. Even though we’ve experienced Fiji time to the fullest our time here seemed too short. Today started pretty early, as we wanted to get a full days activities. The plan was to get up early, and send the kids off with Maureen and Vika to the waterslide, and Jason and I would go snorkeling out by Honeymoon Island. Tuesday April 25th Bula from Fiji! Our plans got changed a little today. We were supposed to have a day of R&R, as we’ve been busy for the last few days. Jason’s back is feeling a lot better now. It still looks like lizard skin, but most of the pain is gone now. Since Kirk got certified as an open water diver here we decided to do a family dive, with the 4 of us diving, and Wes snorkeling above us. Monday April 24th Bula from Fiji! Today we got a fairly early start and headed out with Tawaki and Maureen on a trip to buy some souvenirs. We also went to the time / date line and a natural waterslide. The souvenir shop is called Ross handicrafts, and I guess Ross was the guy who served us. He’s a really big guy, looks Samoan, but talks with a really soft voice. We bought a few things there, with the biggest piece a huge turtle with a shell for a lid. Sunday April 23rd Bula from Fiji! Today we’re going to church. We’re off to an island (Qamea) that has no power, and is only accessible only by boat. Our day starts around 9 am by getting into Sireli’s boat and we’re off. The sun is blazing down, and we know it’s going to be a hot day. The boat ride lasts about 45 mins as its low tide, and we have to maneuver around quite a few reefs. We get to the island and we’re greeted by Moses, the chief of the village we’re visiting. Saturday April 22nd Bula from Fiji! So today we’re off to see the blowhole! Well, after we get to the blowhole, we’re thinking we drove all this way to see that? It’s neat, but not worth the almost 1.5 hr drive through some really twisty and gravel roads. Jason’s back is now meat, and we’re probably going to visit the doctor today, just to make sure things are ok. The blowhole is a natural phenomenon when an ocean swell comes in it goes through a series of rocks, and then shoots up a lot of spray. The spray probably goes 50 [View Full Entry]

Friday April 21st Bula from Fiji! Today we got up early and went off to a place called Bouma Falls. Bouma Falls is in Waitubu Marine Park, which is a marine reserve in Fiji set up about 15 years ago to preserve the fish and the reefs here. There is no fishing in the park, just snorkeling and diving. So we get on the road around 8 am, we’re off to an early start, as Kirk has diving lessons at 1 pm.
