Aberdeen was fairly quiet, after looking around the town we played some pool and watched some TV (which was nice for a change to just relax and do very little). The following day (Tuesday 21st) I went on a boat tour of Loch ness. At first it was raining and windy but then it cleared up and the sun shone bright. The tour was great unfortunately “Nessy” didn’t show. After the Loch Ness boat tour I drove up to Ullapool in the North West highlands to check out the scenery. The drive up was very pretty, an on off downfall of [View Full Entry]

This morning we slept in a bit later than usual and then grabbed some breakfast at the hostel. Later we headed off to St Andrews to check out a very famous golf course called The Old Course, St Andrews and also St Andrews Castle. After we took a short walk of the golf course we boarded the Vauxhall (our hire car) and proceeded up the coast to Aberdeen. [View Full Entry]

Today was mostly spent visiting Edinburgh castle, Afterwards I found a shop that could trace back your family name to find out the tartan pattern the clan used so I checked up on Edwards and Cunningham. Later on that day we discovered there were some tours of the older haunted parts of Edinburgh - these places are known as the Vault and the Blare street cemetery. So we made a plan to visit this tonight. Meeting time was set to 9:30pm. With some time on our hands we went to dinner at a local Chinese restaurant. There were a couple of [View Full Entry]

Overlooking Edinburgh

16th Together with a group of friends which I met from the European tour I hired a car and set off for Scotland. First stop was in Stafford which was very expensive but it was late at night and we had no choice. 17th saw us get through to Edinburgh where we stayed at a hostel called Belford. This really did turn out to be a strange experience as the hostel was in an old church. The rooms comprised of 3 bunk beds with thin half finished walls and plastic sheeting stapled over the top to create a makeshift roof, there [View Full Entry]

The last couple of days I have been staying at the generator (a hostel near kings cross) and during this time I have been exploring a little of London - there is a lot to see. Just for fun I went into the London Dungeon.... I have also visited the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge and see the jewels - VERY impressive. Also at the Tower of London I had the honour of hanging out with King Edward!! seems we had a little in common :-) Tomorrow I plan on hiring a car and driving up to Scotland. Should [View Full Entry]

Crossing the Channel

After Berlin I traveled strait through to Amsterdam…. (The Damage Zone.) Amsterdam is a very interesting country, besides the obvious (“soft” drugs and prostitution) Amsterdam has a lot to offer, they are very laid back and pretty friendly also. The shopping is good and the night life is awesome... I went clubbing and barely made it home to get any sleep at all … yes I paid for that later too. What I found quite interesting is, yes they DO actually wear clogs, laborers and council workers actually wear clogs instead of work boots… I saw it with my own eyes. [View Full Entry]

Exploring Berlin was really cool, unfortunately due to world wars most of the buildings have been leveled… The buildings that were left have been restored or are being restored still. It was funny however that of all important buildings the German Air force headquarters was only hit once with a stray bomb... weird huh. Touring by day I found the most interesting part of Berlin’s historical sites non other than Hitler’s bunker. When night fell I went out to a few bars, clubs then a night club. Like most of Europe the locals don’t start partying till late so the clubs [View Full Entry]

Today I had to leave Lucerne and continue west, leaving Lucerne was sad, it’s such a beautiful place that I would have liked to stay longer. So I though it only best to see as much as I could while here so I woke up before sunrise and climbed to the top of the peaks to capture some more on camera. (Waking up after partying to late at the disco up on the summit is as big a feat as climbing the summit…) I think it would be nice to visit in the middle of winder or in spring, possibly I [View Full Entry]

I was fortunate to stay in the best hotel around, sitting at the top of Mount Pilatus... word can't explain - hopefully pictures can help.
