Leaving Corporate
New Vision
Leaving Corporate
Currently I am an experienced Manager working for a global corporation but I am about to jack it all in to go travelling with my wife, two reasons for this really, they are that I am now disillusioned with the corporate world of business where the selfishness of fellow workers and Managers alike is beginning to be a barrier to progress for not only myself but also the company - personal gain is a higher priority than the success of a company and making it a "Great place to Work" (company slogan not mine!) and secondly I missed out on the travel when I was younger as I was chasing the corporate dream - see reason 1 (how ironic) and I need to do this world wide travel before it is too late (I am mid thirties now).
Both my wife and I are fit and healthy but face the same dramas as everyone else in their normal day to day life of trying to eat healthy, exercise enough, socialise as much as possible, stay in touch with friends and family across the world and ensure our precious cat is well looked after.
I am English (not British), I lived in England until I was 28 when I moved to Australia with work, a few years later I moved to the Middle East with the same company and my soon to be wife (married 2010), we returned to Australia, but this was the point where my view on the world changed and instead of wanting to progress up the corporate ladder I wanted to start enjoying the rest of my life, experience what I haven't done already and above all - TRAVEL!
My wife is Australian, she lived and worked in in Perth until we buggered off to the Middle East; my wife put up with a few years of unhappiness in her professional life while in the Middle East and is still not over the moon with her work now back in Australia. She has travelled a lot more than me and has always been a lot more willing to leave work for the opportuity of travel.
My wife is a lot more creative than myself but we seem to have a great mix of fun and ensuring we have a good future together with our slightly different points of view.... :-)
