Half way there! East Coast Oz We arrived in Cairnes on Nessy's birthday and met up with Adam, Bonny and Toby and their new friends Adam and Helena who were already there! Needless to say we had a pretty good time that night!! We then hired a 'Wicked' campervan (a painted jobby) with Jimmy Hendrix on the side and flying eye balls on it! We headed out in convoy and spent a few days together, fishing, camping, making fires, drinking goon (cheap wine boxes) and having fun! We had to leave the guys and head off on our own again as we had a flight to catch from Sydney a few days later! We hared down the coast just taking in the landscape, stopping off at Mike and Tracy's place (Casey, and now Peewee, buddies) ... read more

West-side Australasia » Australia By Nessy and Pete June 19th 2007 West coast Oz We really did fly through Australia- and we still managed to spend a lot (compared to Asia). We gave ourselves 1 month in the country so that works out as two weeks on the west coast, two weeks on the east coast. We managed to set aside a couple of days in Kakadu (crocodile dundee land) and in Perth and Darwin. So on the west coast, in nine days we drove 6500 kilometers from Darwin to Perth. We didn't have a lot of time for anything else! Its no good to drive at night because the kangaroos are all out playing chicken! We(pete) hit 2 roos and 4 birds. Nice going! We had a blast making and cooking on campfires and drinking cheap wine. ... read more

Just chillin... Asia » Indonesia » Lombok » Gili Islands By Nessy and Pete May 27th 2007 The Gili Islands 'Gili' just means islands in Indonesian- but these three Gilis deserve their name. They are literally three small islands off the coast of Lombok where you can go to pretend you're stranded. We spent two weeks here- diving, snorkelling everyday, reading in our hammocks (we found places to string them over the water in the mangroves!) and drinking lots of arak and rice wine- bottles at 1 pound a go! Dogs are banned onn the island so cats run the place and there is no motorised transport- horse and cart only!! W... read more

Walking with Dinosaurs Asia » Indonesia » Komodo By Nessy and Pete May 22nd 2007 Komodo Despite having a non-english speaking and slightly amateur guide/captain of our boat- this is probably the best organised trip we've taken this year. We walked around Komodo and Rinca (neighbouring island) over two days- watching the dragons as well as all the other cool creatures that live there! We saw a Cobra and swam with a dozen Manta rays! The guides dragged us round the sea looking for them! Again the photo quality underwater doesn't do it justice! ... read more
