Our last long distance jounrey went fine as we are rather used to them know, however once we got dropped off in Sao Paulo the fun began! Our bus arrived a few hours early so we arrived at 4am with no clue on where we were staying and as it is such a massive city this proved to be a major flaw. We waited an hour or 2 for the tourist information to open, which it didnt, so just got what we thought was the closest hostel in our lonely planet book and ordered a taxi in which the wrong area was written down for the driver, so ended up in the middle of what looked like the business district at 8am with no clue on what we were doing with our heavy bags, in the ... read more

Buenos Aires reminded us alot of London and ended up staying our first night in not the nicest hostel but in a very posh district in which we could afford nothing. But did get transport straight from the airport, so cant complain about door to door service. We moved the next day to another district more toward the centre of BA which was decorated with alot of art and grafitti as it was known as the Art Factory. After dumping our stuff we headed out for dinner, but seeing as the language was now portuguese it was rather challenging being able to order something we actually liked, but saying beef and cow bought us a steak which we were more than happy with. After, we went to go and find a market but got lost but ... read more

So arrived in Santiago after a long 13 hour flight for New Zealand, our body clock was all wrong as we had time travlled back in time arriving 4 hours before we left, so it was actually the longest day we had ever lived! Arrived in Santiago with no clue on how to get to the hostel, and this is where the language barrier proved a little difficult as most people didnt speak english and our spanish was by no means good at this point. Finally got onto the right bus, not having much of an idea which stop to get off at, or even where we were going, but thank god Rachel sat next to someone who knew the area well and spoke english. So after we were shown to our lovely hostel (which we ... read more

So flew into Auckland tired and hungover from Fiji, could easily be mistaken for England as it was raining and freezing cold so took us a while to re-aclimatize. First thing on the agenda was to go and buy some warm clothes as summer dresses and bikini's didnt really cut it, but as our hostel was located in the centre of the shopping district this wasnt a hard task. At the point in our journey we were missing the weather of fiji and 'fiji time' espesically, we wanted the sun to come out as the rain was very miserabe and we didnt want the whole of our time in Nz to be raining. Being the people we are, we arrived in Nz without any plan at all so spent the first few days in auckland deciding ... read more

Well, where to start with Fiji! Literally one of the best times of our lives! We were greeted in Fiji by the extreme heat and traditional Fijian music being played as we stepped off the plane and beautiful scenery of course, it was paradise. Spent the first night in Nadi then headed over to Mana the next day at supposidly 9am, however we hadnt quite got the grips of 'fiji time' so didnt actually leave until gone 11. The mana flyer was a tiny little boat which we were all crammed into, there was no jetty so we had to carry our rucksacks in thigh high water in order to get onto the boat which was rather a challenge. Ratu Kini (the best hostel ever) was located right on the beach front of a small island, ... read more

So one of the highlights of the trip so far was definately our stop in Brisbane as we were able to see Kim our friend from Uni again! Was so niice being able to catch up with her! Made our way to Brisbane from Noosa, for once it didnt take long and everything ran on time so it didnt feel as though our entire day had been wasted moving about. The area of Brisbane Kim lives in is such a nice place and had such a good vibe to it, there were actually proper shops again and bars all within walking distance which made such a change for us! It felt so bizzare being back in a city...within 24hrs hours we caved in and started wearing make-up again and actually straightened our hair!! it was bliss! ... read more

So finally arrived in australia on the 7th jan into cairns. Within the first hour of being here, realised 2 things it is very hot and very expensive. After a few mishaps at the airport of not being able to withdraw money and not being able to get a shuttle to the hostel we arrived at 'the asylum' our first nights stop in aus. A very basic hostel but had aircon and a bed which is what we needed for our first night even though it was full of 40 year old acoholic men who have been staying there for 4 months, so i think you can get the picture of the asylum. Didnt really do much in cairns just a stop over to sort out our bus ticket, the greyhound to get down to brisbane, ... read more

Singapore is now definately one of our favorite new cities!! So, took us around 15 hrs on the coach to get here which was painless enough (although wasn't feeling at all well which wasnt the most fun experience!) but we had aircon, comfy seats and plenty of room to sleep so that was plus - still 15hrs on a coach though!! As usual the coach dropped us of at some random location - we had no clue and at 5am with our rucksacks it was not the most fun experience. Managed to find the MRT (underground) which took us to Lavander Street where our hostel was - still took us 20 mins to walk to the Hostel though - when its baking hot, wearing a very heavy rucksack and you're feeling like crap = not fun!! ... read more

Hi Everyone!! Sorry we've been abit slack on the blog, sunbathing has taken priority! So, we flew from Chiang Mai to Phuket some time last week just for the night before heading to Koh Phi Phi for Xmas but had an interesting time while we were there! Found an irish pub to stay at for the night and as there was not much else to do in the area decided to spend our time having a few drinks! Lauren soon realised half way during the the vodka fuelled afternoon that she had run out of baccy so asked the owner of the bar who was from Manchester where was the best place to buy some as couldnt find it anywhere. He decided that we would never find the shop as it was too far way and ... read more

So arrived in chaing mai on Friday after a quick flight over from bangkok, which was obviously delayed again but only by an hour this time. Chaing mai is surrounded by beautiful mountains and jungles and is alot more relaxed than bangkok. As soon as we got here, we dumped our bags at the hostel and went for our first thai massge! We both had a 30 min foot massage for only 2 pounds! Which was amazing so obviously had to go back for a few more at that price! Caught a more successful tuk tuk to the Night Bazaar which is a massive out and indoor market with thousands of stalls, lanterns and hundreds of people (tourists) where we went and watched some thai boxing. Wasnt at all what we were expecting, we had pictured ... read more
