Oudtshoorn

Of course, the day we leave Cape Town its clear blue skies and warm. Mother Nature can be really mean sometimes. But then we headed up to Oudtshoorn, where we stayed in Red Stone Hills Farm. It reminded me so much of Colorado, but the hiking was super pretty and one more we got up and ran at sunrise- absolutely beautiful. There we got to explore the Cango Caves. In one of the caverns in the caves they used to have concerts, but they stopped when people would leave the concert, go explore the caves and beak off pieces of stalagmites. There were some super cool parts where we had to crawl through super tiny places (one hole was 27m high and 1m long) and basically it rocked. That same day we went to an ostrich ... read more

Into the Clouds

So yesterday it decided to clear up and we took the gondola up to the summit of Table Mountain (1085 ft). It was so gorgeous- it was still really cloudy up there so we were wandering around in the clouds and sometimes they would clear and we could see down below. My pictures don't do it justice at all. And it was way foggy, so they are kind of crappy. But oh well- it was gorgeous. And I'll be back later to actually hike up it when it's clear out. But when the sun is shining I can really see why this is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town!!

Ok so originally right now I'm supposed to be hiking Table Mountain, but due to the shitty weather we've been having all week the top of the mountain is still covered in fog/clouds and apparently a lot of people fall off the mountain when that happens. Plus, it's been raining non stop so there's a chance of mudslides or some crap like that. Either way, I don't get to hike a mountain. So what do I do? Pay good money to post pictures for all of you. I have officially landed (as of yesterday). Cape Town is AWESOME! I haven't actually seen table mountain yet because it's been cloudy, but heck, i'm here the whole summer. I can't be too elaborate here cuz I don't have a ton of time left, and I can't post pictures because I'm not using my laptop. So in 3 weeks, I will be posting pictures like mad. Today we went to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner and that was cool (more to come) and then in the afternoon we went wine tasting, which was delicious. Also, more to come. This is sort of messy I guess

My room is chaos... I'm a last minute packer. But that's just how I roll. It looks kind of like the photo from my room at school, but it's much worse. So I head off tomorrow (WOOO!!!) and I'm not sure how much internet access I will be getting while on the trip with school for the first 3 weeks. If I get it, awesome.
