(Kev) As I was doing the research of the places I would like to visit in Borneo, Gunung Mulu National Park was one of the places that enamored me the most. The Park is as large as Singapore and holds one of the world’s most extraordinary cave systems. There are four caves open to the general public, and much more if you pay for adventure caving. The caves are massive, Deer Cave is the largest cave passage known to man…we tried to capture some of it, but its sheer size made a fair representation of it difficult. Gunung Mulu has [View Full Entry]

Kev) We have met so many amazing people along our trip...and the people we met last week in Bintulu may have been the most amazing and hospitable yet. They welcomed us whole heartedly, drove us around town and out to the longhouses, and gave us multiple meals. We have added them to our blog contacts, so James and Elna hi...we enjoyed our time in Bintulu because of you. Following Bintulu we made our way to a National Park called Lambir Hills. We had our own challet, and we were the only people in the entire park. The first night we got [View Full Entry]

(Kev) Currently as I type this i am in a computer gaming room. You would not believe the amount of noise in here, people are yelling, music is blaring, and I think i am about read to explode. Seriously you would not believe how nuts it is in here! The computer is also going super slow so we probably won't be able to get as many pictures on as usual. Our last real adventures were in Bako National Park. We stayed in the park for two nights, and got to see all the wild life we had set out to see. [View Full Entry]

(Swena) Hey again. this blog finds me in much better spirits. a week has helped me to forget about seattle's loss. since our last blog we have left the mainland and are now on the island of borneo. borneo is devided into two parts. the southern part belongs to indonsia while the the northern part belongs to maylaysia along with a small section that makes up the sovereign kingdom of Brunei. we are only planning on visiting the northern part of the island since the southern part is unstable. on of the things that a lot of people at home (myself [View Full Entry]

(Swena) The Seahawks lost. I got four hours of sleep. I haven't had breakfast or a shower. Love you all. Will write more when my brain can function better. I leave you in the capible hands of Kev and Dust. Later (Kev) Ko Lanta may be favorite beach city yet. I loved Langkawi, and I liked the hostel and coastline better in Ko Pha Ngan…but over all Ko Lanta just had it going on. We had a bit of an adventure in getting here; we crammed ourselves into the local bus (basically just a truck) then boarded two ten-minute ferries, and [View Full Entry]

Right where I want to be

(Swena) I'm going to start with a little disclaimer. if it sounds like my life hasn't been as interesting as kev and dustin's over the last week or so, it's bacause i've been spending a lot of time indoors, which as earned me the effectionate title of "indoorsman" by my traveling buddies. the reason is that walking hasn't been a lot of fun since my little moped accident. i've been doing a lot of reading. but i'm doing much better now and am almost all healed up. we've been in the little coastal town of Krabi for the last two days. Not your everyday fountain

(Swena) we're posting the last three blogs tonight because we've been busy traveling from island to island. another reason that we haven't been using the internet is that it's been very expensive, up to five times what we're paying to use it now. but the biggest reason would probibly have to be that kev and i have been recovering. but more on that later. Our time in langkawi was wonderful. we got a lot of R&R. then we hit Koh Samui and we felt like we were stepping into a different country. we got "robbed" (not literally) on our transit from [View Full Entry]

(Dustin) Well, Koh Pha Ngan worked out pretty good for us after a few early hassles. On arriving we got a free taxi to a resort that obviously was looking for our business but somehow their prices weren't quite what they told us at the dock, prices we really weren't into paying. Thankfully even though our patience had run out for waiting for a room on the island, it seemed as though luck would have it that all their rooms filled up and we had to go somewhere else. Another free taxi by a young guy who was something like a [View Full Entry]

Our home away from home

Hey everybody. This is Swena. After an eventful day it feels good to just sit and type for a little bit. Today was a blast and i a great way to finish up our stay here on Langkawi. After all the hustle and bustle of the big city of KL I was looking forward to a little R&R and i sure got a lot. the last four days have been full of a whole lot of doing nothing. This place is great for just sitting on the beach and catching a little sun. We've all been doing a pretty good job [View Full Entry]

Our Front Yard

Last night (Jan 10) Dust and I wrote a really good travel blog but the computer said no. Then we tried to add pictures, but each computer we tried defeated us. However we are not ones who give up easily. President Richard Nixon once said, "Defeat doesn't finish a man--quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits. So we will see if we can overcome the computer, and give some what of a summary of the fun we have been having. So here it goes...
