Hey everybody. This is Swena. After an eventful day it feels good to just sit and type for a little bit. Today was a blast and i a great way to finish up our stay here on Langkawi. After all the hustle and bustle of the big city of KL I was looking forward to a little R&R and i sure got a lot. the last four days have been full of a whole lot of doing nothing. This place is great for just sitting on the beach and catching a little sun. We've all been doing a pretty good job of not getting sunburned but it has taken a lot of work. Every morning we take ten to fiveteen mintutes to just put on sunscreen. But it's better than getting baked like some of the people we've seen. I've really enjoyed getting to know my traveling buddies. They're great guys. You think you know someone but it takes something like this to make you appreciate them fully... I've gotten a kick out of how we never seem to eat at the same place twice. We keep trying new restaurants every day. And it's only now, right before we're set to
First Impressions
Supper by the sea leave, that we've all found our favorite spots. Another thing that's been really nice about staying here is that our hostel, The Gecko, has an outdoor satelite tv. So, we've been ablt to keep up with sports and catch an occasional movie rerun. It's a nice way to wind down. There is a guy from Holland that lives at our hostel. He says that he was just passing through and ended up staying and now he's been here two years. He was telling us that we should do the same. It's a crazy thought but I think that all three of us still have a lot of motivation to make it back home. Can't think of a whole lot else to talk about right now. So, i'll sign off and let the other guys get their say in. Peace.

Before i went on the trip, i had vision of listening to Jack Johnson as i walked down the beach...now that is a reality. We wake up to the sound of roosters, very missiontripesque. Then once we are actually awake we meander down to the local eatery and chow down on some banana pancakes, with some

Lankawi for me was amazing. The weather was warm, the beach stretched for miles, and the locals were all full of smiles. We lived even cheaper than the guide book suggested. Rough Guides said living on a budget was possible for 60 Rm a day, we did for about 30,which in American dollars is less than 10 dollars a day. I loved walking along the beach at night, the weather was mid 70s and the ocean generated a warm flowing breeze. Some of Langawi seemed like it could be straight out of one of those Corona comericials, it is natural to take it easy here, and the amazing thing is we get two more weeks of the exact same thing on the beaches in Thailand.
The Island is really large, today we went around much of it on mopeds. The highlights were a waterful, an undeveloped yet scenic beach, and just riding in the breeze with the sun on our backs.
Talk to you again soon
Love Kev

Well another day on the beach has been as relaxing and you might think it should be. Add mopeds
to the mix and you get a couple interesting days on a huge island. Mopeds made it seem like you could actually see the island, and I don't regret it after checking out one of the beaches across the island. It took some thinking but the left side of the road seems to be atleast as much fun as the right. Good thing this is a small island and there isn't tons of traffic. We walked beaches, collected shells and watched a romantic sunsets together.....well not exactly like that but all those things are here. We've met some interesting monkies, some interesting people, and managed to find some places worth seeing. At the place we stayed there were 3 monkeys, but only one they allowed free, his name was Adi and he stole everything he could get his hands on. Also, people like Poppa Reggae who carved wood and made necklaces to sell on the beach, he had his rasta hat and old dark leathery skin and a constant smile. We told the people at the Tourist desk we'd do a promotional of their island if we liked it so here it is. There is everything from dirt cheap to
Loco Locals
They loved getting their pictures taken, and always were waving at us ritzy hotels scattered across the island. They even profiled us when we walked in and told us the area to go for good clean rooms and cheaper food, the "backpackers" area.
Well and for you that know my history, I ummm took a chunk out of my toe. Don't worry though its been washed, washed again in filtered water, alcoholized, tweezed, antibioticized, and wrapped and anything else someone like my mom would worry about just in case. Swena scraped up his side and kevs managed just to get some minor sunburns. We're good and healthy for the most part.
Later,
Dustin
