OLYMPICS!!!!! This morning I woke up and found Munchkins by our door (donut holes) and the girls were up at 6:45, so we decided to let them get up early because of their excitement and because it is Mikaylas birthday!! She turns 9 today! Opening Ceremonies was crazy! Each side had cheers and we were going back and forth, then we lit the Olympic torch. Let the games begin! For junior camp we first had Boating, then Team Sport, Individual Sport, Tug of War, and Swimming. This morning I went to church and got back when the girls had free time. Lunch was tacos, which we had not had in a while and it was great! We were not able to have quiet time because the girls had tryouts for the camper talent show and the junior camp counselors had an appreciation/ice-cream meeting. This morning we hiked Piermont Mountain, the girls were so pumped for it even though we have been prepping them that it would be difficult! No girls from bunk 12A cried or whined, but we had other cabins with us and they cried and whined and it was a difficult hike but they all did awesome! It took us about an hour and a half to get up and then we ate lunch and relaxed for 2 hours at the top; it was such a nice day, the sun was out and it was really warm. Today has been great! When Reveille went off all my girls had their teeth brushed and were dressed for the day...on top of their game!! If only every morning was like this! We had breakfast, then our morning announcements, and then SIGS, I was the counselor in Nature and this week the topic is Mission Impossible, so we made air guns and decoder maps. This morning the girls had softball, it was fun to see them play! BUT 2 girls got hurt, Mira caught a ball with her face instead of her glove and Mikayla dove for a ball and dove too far and it hit her knee instead. All of our girls are getting injured! We woke up this morning late and left for Montpelier. Montpelier was on the way to Burlington which was our destination for the day. We walked around the capital which was nice and then we went to the Ben and Jerry’s factory in Waterbury---where Ben and Jerry’s was first opened. We then drove to Burlington which was really cute and went to a couple of the stores before lunch. We went to a pizza parlor for lunch and then off to the beach. It was an awesome relaxing day! The girls had tennis this morning so I was able to go to the CK to catch up on internet and talk to Jessica, Wes and Torey about our plans for our day off. It is just the 4 of us, and this is our last day off! I can’t believe how fast this summer is going! The kids were us and making noise at 6:30…..YAH for sleeping in!  We heard screaming and Connor yelled “Girls, be quiet” I heard that and I walked out of the tent and rushed over to the girls and opened their tent and said “what is going on?” in a stern voice. Today started really early! It was Andres last day at camp because he was a counselor for the 4 week kids, so to commemorate him and for a great good bye, we hiked Piermont…..at 4:30am!!! It was Andree, Jessica, Wes, and Fred. Yes yes I know in my last entry I mentioned that Piermont is closed….and it was….but it was only because there was so much rain and there was a lot of debris in the path.
