Today is the first of August!!! I can’t believe that there are only 2 weeks left!! 13 days!!! The days do go by slowly but the weeks go by so fast!! This morning after breakfast we were supposed to hike Piermont but on Friday it rained ALL day so it was too muddy, so we hiked Canyon Mountain instead, it was an easier hike, the mountain is a ski resort in the winter. We left the hotel at 9:00 and got breakfast, it was so nice to get a decent cup of coffee and a bagel that was not from camp!!! We also went to WalMart and got snacky food for the beach, I got strawberries, grapes, chips and Milano cookies….we had so much food for the afternoon! We then had to drive 2 ½ hours to get to Maine and we rolled in at 2pm, it was a really hot day and the water felt aMaZiNg!!! It was nice to just lounge and read and catch up with people. Today was an amazing day…especially after the hectic day yesterday. I was not assigned a SIG this week so I had a break from 9-10 and then the girls had tennis which counselors are not supposed to go too, so I had a break from 10-11 and then the girls had free swim and I was able to swim in the lake. With my free time I spent it outside on the lawn because it was 90 degrees out!!! Today was lazy Monday, and Amberlynn had her day off and it was a difficult day. With 2 new girls it was hard to make the girls focus. With 6 girls it was easy to get them to clean but now with 8 all they want to do is play games and be outside. We got a 82% which is below average, but you can only tell the girls so many times to do something. We then had lunch, quiet time, showered and off to League, which I had a period off. I was able to borrow a camp car and drive to Bradford Vermont for church. Driving was nice, the curvy roads and the scenery. I think that the biggest difference between the east coast and NE is that the roads feel very confined, trees everywhere, no open spaces all trees, I can’t wait to get back to NE and see corn and fields and be able to see more than a couple feet to the side of me! Today was crazy! The girls all woke up and were pumped for their parents to come! They were so hyper and we tried to put it to good use by having them spiff up the cabin…..but they were to wound up so we had to have some quiet time before waiting outside for them! All the parents then came and it was so emotional to see the kids running and embracing their parents. Some of the parents set up blankets outside and some visited inside the cabin. Today was the big play!!!! We had ceramics right before the play so we rushed from that to dinner then to Titas. Before the plays at camp we always sing songs, and have announcements, and being in junior camp our plays are shorter so we have all 3 junior camp plays in one night. We were the third to go, before us was Beauty and the Beast and Hocus Pocus which were both marvelous plays, but not as marvelous as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Today was my day off, we arrived in Maine last night and stayed in a cute little beach town, York. We had no plans for the day so we slept in and took our time getting ready to go and we checked out at 11:00 and explored the town, we went to the beach and put our feet in the water, we all stood on top of a rock and a wave came and soaked us all, Toreys camera got wet and broke, I was on the phone with dad when it happened, but luckily camera and phone were ok! This morning my girls had water-skiing and I was not in charge of a SIG so I had 8:30-10:30am off which was really nice, when the girls got back we went kayaking, it started to rain...which made it more fun! After lunch, instead of quiet time, we rehearsed for our play again (it is on Friday) luckily the play only has to be 15 min long so it is not as stressful, but we still need to put on a good show! Today is just me, the specialists and Amberlynn have their day off and luckily it is MONDAY!!! Which means it is a lazy day!!!! We started off the day amazing! The girls were all up at 6:30, but I just ignored that and kept sleeping and even though the Reville went off at 7:45 I was awake again at 7:15 because that is what my body is used to at camp.
