There may be no more "undiscovered," off-the-beaten-path places left in the Caribbean, but Panama's Bocas del Toro archipelago comes close. This collection of more than 10 islands near the border with Costa Rica has becoming one of the favorite stops for tourist traveling through Latin America like me, but has been mostly ignored by the rest of the travel world. The islands of Bocas del Toro are the essence and the mirror of Caribbean Panama. They are located in the extreme western part of the country, only 40 kilometers from the Republic of Costa Rica. This archipelago has the perfect combination of nature and historical and cultural traditions, with a charming variety of aquatic species, coral reefs, mangroves, tropical forest, beaches with crystal clear water, undisturbed jungles with all the flora and fauna you can imagine. ... read more

After staying one month in Puerto Escondido, i got the feeling it's time to hit the road again! i met Argentina-Chile guys who were heading to Costa Rica and on the next day I was sitting with them on the bus to Guatemala. El Salvador's name still evokes images of the brutal civil war fought throughout the 1980s. A 12-year civil war, which cost about 75,000 lives, was brought to a close in 1992 when the government and leftist rebels signed a treaty that provided for military and political reforms. The government made a series of economic reforms in USA model of free market. In 2001 El Salvador adopted the U.S. dollar as its official currency, replacing the previous currency called the Colon (Spanish for 'Columbus', as in Christopher Columbus). The war, however, is over and ... read more

Israel, here I come! After 2 hours of scanning and checking the luggage I was finally there. Yifat and here friend Maya were waiting for me. We stuffed all my things into the car and drove directly to the beach. I thought that meant a relaxing afternoon sunbathing or just looking the sunset. But it was a party, a great party though. My first impression of Israel in its real image. Young, old, girls, boys, kids, students, grannies… everyone were singing, dancing, drinking, eating (in Israel you always get small pretzels and olives with your drink), talking, they were all enjoying themselves. Well, we were all enjoying. That’s how Israel is. Full of great positive energy, there is no sign of boredom, no sign of monotony. It’s work (most of them have 2 or 3 jobs), ... read more

After spending whole Sunday in Ras Mohamed, this breathtaking spot with its nutrient rich waters which attract hundreds of thousands of living species to its immensely diverse coral reef, I decided to see the desert as well. The Sinai Peninsula (in Arabic, Shibh Jazirat Sina شبه جزيرة سيناء) is a triangle-shaped peninsula of about 60,000 square kilometers, lying between the Mediterranean Sea (to the north) and Red Sea (to the south). In Arabic, Sinai is written as sena'. Because Sinai looks like as the surface of the moon one theory says that the name Sinai derived from the lunar deity Sin. Early inhabitants, worshipping the Trinity: Sin (Moon), Shamash (Sun) and Ishtar (Venus) named the peninsular after the moon-god Sin. But Bedouins of south Sinai today assert that the name came from the Arabic word for ... read more

Sharm el-Sheikh (شرم الشيخ, also transliterated as Sharm ash Shaykh), often known simply as "Sharm," is a city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, in Janub Sina', Egypt, on the coastal strip between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai. Ten years ago, Sharm El Sheikh was barely big enough to qualify as a sleepy fishing village. Today, it has become a sinonim for turism! City without real inhabitants, just men working in tourism (it’s too expensive for them to live there, so whenever they can, they drive back home to Cairo, Dahab, Taba…). Major luxury hotels, such as The Ritz-Carlton and The Four Seasons, as well as franchises like Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe, can be found in Sharm el-Sheikh. A number of international hotels and noted restaurants are gathered around Naama Bay, ... read more
