I just packed my things
And I'm headed for something
Where I'm going
Well, I don't really know
The road is calling
So I've got to go

Hmm what to say about Prague. It was a very different experience. First of all, we got into the Prague train station late and had to figure out how to get to the subway and buy tickets. This required taking the Czech koruna (pronounced crown) out of the atm. Taking Czech money out was like sticking your card in the machine and having the monopoly game spit money back out at you. I took out 3000 Koruna. This translates to about 100 euro. Of course the subway ticket machine only accepts coins so we had to go buy a candy bar to get change back. This left me with a couple 1000 bills, a 500, couple 100's and a 50. It was money I couldn't take seriously. So we made it to the hostel after getting ... read more

I am in love with Munich. Im glad we decided to stay there the longest. As one of our tourguides told us, Munich is the coolest German city because everything considered culturally "German" comes from Bavaria (Munich is the capital of Bavaria)...aka Lederhosen, beer, the funny hats with feathers, etc. We did see many people dressed up in these outfits and we did see many people drinking beer. First of all, Munich was freezing! Definitely the coldest place we have been. We arrived at 6:30 in the morning via the night train from Berlin. Im definitely a fan of the night train! Of course at 6:30 in the morning nothing is going to be open so we headed to the hostel in which we found a nice little winter garden (enclosed garden with lots of bean ... read more

Berlin Berlin Berlin.....it was a very interesting trip thats for sure. Dave and I arrived to an extremely nice hostel that was barely a year old converted out of an old beer house. Very cool. We walked around looking for lunch and found a little farmers market and ate disgusting currywurst...Dave told me this was just a special type of sausage but actually turned out to be bratwurst covered in curry ketchup. Yuck. We found some really good crepes and I got harrassed by the fruit stand man because I didnt speak German. Once again, Dave sent me ahead to try and talk with the locals and this man was the town clown! Everyone around us was laughing as he made a joke of the situation, including Dave who apparently understood everything the man was saying ... read more

Typing on a German keyboard is extremely frustrating. It consists of a lot of backspacing which just makes it worse because the backspace button is small and misplaced. Very annoying. The z and the y are also switched so I might just get to a point where they will be switched in the entry and thats that. Onto Cologne...Dave and I initially slept through the train that we were supposed to catch first, but thankfully a train leaves from amsterdam to cologne every hour. We arrived in Cologne around noon and to the hostel to drop our bags by about 1. We hadnt eaten all day so we headed to a small sandwich place and downed a quick bite and gross coffee. And then it was time for the IMHOFF CHOCOLATE MUSEUM. To be perfectly honest, ... read more

Thank goodness for free internet. I'm sitting in the brand new library that's behind out hostel houseboat. It's extremely nice and they have free computers and internet everywhere. I'm sitting on a bed of cushions typing this. Dave and i have been here for about 3 hours. In our "hostel" we are sleeping in bunks that overlap each other and are no more than 2 feet wide, if that. Our room is probably 6 X 6. Extremely small, but very cool. Although it's really cold out, we slept with the window open last night for 3 reasons. 1. the heat is ridiculously high in such a small room. 2. dave's feet REEK after 4 days of walking, i can't wait for day 22. 3. over david's snoring, the water hitting the boat has a very lulling ... read more

3rd day in Paris...it's an amazing city. I have extremely limited time on this computer because Paris is the king of expensive. Dave and I have done ridiculous amounts the past couple days. Neither of us can feel our legs and Dave can't feel his feet. We walked all over the city yesterday and saw the famous sites, came in contact with some not so sly pick pockets. Dave is hilarious because i'm not sure a pick pocket would know what to do when they get to him! He even sets up booby-traps in the hostel room while we're sleeping. I've documented it all. We wen tand bought pastries last night and went and watched the lights on the eiffel tour. Very cool. We also have eaten parisian food. very very good. We've been splitting everything ... read more

Oh NO, it's SNOWING!

February 2nd 2009

London has absolutely no preparations for snow. The most they get is a light dusting on any occasion. At this moment, I'm looking out my window from work and would say we have about 4 inches. People are freaking out. I would say about 10 people have come into work today and half of those have left. Alyse got sent home because there was no one there to let anyone in. Every line on the tube has been suspended and some are completely shut down. None of the streets have been salted and the sidewalks are treacherous. The station where I switch trains in the morning was so stocked with people and the trains weren't coming more than every 6 minutes so there was a rush of people when the doors opened. Very dangerous. I took ... read more

After a fantastic Saturday, Sabrina and I took our time getting to Leicester Square on Sunday. We had planned to get there about noon, but stopped for thai food and coffee on the way. We ended up there around 3. They were still setting up some of the fences around the cinema but there were some areas completely caged so that people could sit and wait for the red carpet to arrive. There were two boys that were standing behind one of the gates, so i asked if they were waiting for friends to arrive or if we could stand with them. Everywhere else was completely packed and there would be no way that we would get a front row seat anywhere else unless we stood by the gate. They were not waiting for anyone, so ... read more

One of the great things about London is the opportunity to go to movie premiers and battle the crowds to see famous people. Completely worth it. The twilight premier was cool because i just showed up after work to see the stars because i was reading the book! Will was planned. Sabrina, Alyse, and I planned to meet up after work and see Will Smith. I got off work at 4:30 and headed home to change. One of the guys in the hostel came with me and we walked to Leicester Square and the premier was just madness! We walked around until we found barely decent spot where we might be able to see the stars on the red carpet. When it was finally time we somehow got up to be 2nd from the fence! I ... read more
