Vietnam has great food! Great climbing! but it is still a communist country, and there are huge limitations. Will go back to China after Golden week is over. In the mean time, I'm chilling on Catba Island. Everyday I boat out to this beach where you -climb -wakeboard, -play volleyball, -deep water solo (when you rock climb without a rope above the ocean, and when you fall, you fall into the water), -jet ski, -kayak, -eat, -drink, -lay in a hammock... all in whatever order you want! I could not understand why my brother - who traveled through Asia for a year - kept complaining about China, yet he kept going back. Over and over again. He finally explained it when he said that China was like A Gold Nugget wrapped in a Ball of Shit. Hello all, I'm here in Yangshuo in China - Guangxi province. I really REALLY miss Boulder, the weather is so hot,a nd I want some yogurt and milk and cheese, and cool nights and bike lanes, and here it's no where to be found :( BUT there are a lot of things here you wouldn't find in America. Like eating chicken feet! or snake, or dog. Also, I'm learning a little Chinese! The food, oh the food! The food is quite worth mentioning, because it's nothing like I've ever experienced elsewhere. Meats and vegetables are fresher than I have ever seen. The tastes are amazing, and utilized in ways I have never thought of, and has awoken taste-buds I didn't know exists. There are more vegetables to choose from here than I've ever seen in an American grocery store, and it looks like it was JUST PICKED five minutes ago, and is there right in front of you. Summer in Boulder '09... Says it all! Highlights: -Finishing up my LAST trimester in school. I have learned so much! -As always, I'm climbing a lot, and LOVE IT! (see videos). Sometimes you have to cross a tyrolean to get to the crag. -I let my hair go curly... and stopped straightening it. -I'm leaving the country for 8 months. Flying out of San Francisco, I'm heading to Taiwan, then Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, China, India, Nepal, Israel, Jordan, etc. -Coming right back to Boulder afterwards.
