I don't think anyone has travelled or worked in the UK without ever having visited Amsterdam. It's one of those 'must see' places, and with good reason. Apart from the infamous 'activities' you can legally participate in, we discovered the city has a lot more to offer..... Saturday 6th May 2006 As usual we had an early start to make use of our long weekend. We arrived in Amsterdam mid morning and found our way to the Bulldog Backpackers where we had booked our dorm beds. To our surprise the Bulldog was right on the edge of the red light district! When in Rome...... Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
Rome was amazing!! Our motto for this trip was "When in Rome...". This may account for our excessive consumption of red wine (vino), espressos, and carb-loading on pasta. We also adopted their crazy driving techniques when we hired a scooter for the day! Not to mention that crossing the road as a pedestrian was simillar to paying a game of leapfrog - Italians have NO respect for the green man!! This all paved the way for what was a great trip. Friday 31st March 2006 What's this......UV rays.......warmth from the earth's sun!? It was glorious! Our skin soon went into s [View Full Entry]

Hello Team It's that time again - yes, we've gone and visited another country and we want you to know all about it! This time it's the highly recommended city of Prague in the Czech Republic. Saturday 4th March 2006 We had expected it to be cold, but it was bloody freezing! After throwing our gear in our moderately priced hotel (£10ea a night including breakfast - can't complain) we walked down Wenceslas Square, Prague's main boulevard, and through the middle of the city down to the river. Rach was able to sniff some markets out within the 1st half hour, [View Full Entry]

Barcelona Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
We had always wanted to visit Barcelona in the summer, but you cannot pass up flights for £25 return! So off to Spain we went for a long weekend in the cold....... We decided to treat ourselves to a 4* hotel considering it was low-season. The hotel was located right above main train station - Sants - making it a very convenient base from which to explore (not to mention that a King sized bed beats the hell out of a hostel bunk!) Saturday 28th January 2006 Barcelona is particularly famous for the works of architect/artist Gaudi. So we decided to [View Full Entry]

In keeping with our new years resolution....to travel more.....we decided mid January that it was time for a quick weekend getaway to Paris, to visit some good family friends - the Cassellas. Friday 13th of January 2006 We caught the wonderful Eurostar to Paris Friday night to stay with the Cassellas.....I'm sure we managed to wake everyone (Chris, Cheryl, Nick, Carley and Lucy) upon arrival. Saturday 14th January 2006 We decided on quite a morbid itinerary for Saturday, the theme was.....dead people. We started by visiting Napoleons crypt. It was the centrepiece of an [View Full Entry]

Not so long ago, in a land far far away….14 Aussies descended upon the slopes of Courchevel (France)…..yes our Christmas holiday was just like a fairytale. High up in the French Alps at 1,850 metres above sea level lies Courchevel, part of the largest ski area in the world with over 600kms of groomed piste. There are hundreds of lifts spread across 3 Valleys, Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens….Perisher eat your heart out! We shared the experience with Sim, Loz, Steve, Breck, Amy, Chelsea, Ryan, Kate, James, Mash, Kristan and Lisa. Trying to save on expenses Rach tho [View Full Entry]

To spend some more time with Mum (including her birthday) Justin and I thought that it would be a good idea to follow Mum to Sweden, where she had an exhibition. We soon found out that Sweden was famous for a number of things including Volvos, ABBA, beautiful people (that was our own deduction) and the Nobel Prize. Saturday 12th November Justin and i flew to Stockholm in the early hours of Saturday morning (love those cheap ryan air flights). After staying the night in our budget hostel (with no toilet paper) we met Mum at the luxurious Radisson Hotel. We [View Full Entry]

Mum (Bev Reilly), came over to visit (whilst on a work trip), and stayed with us for 2 1/2 weeks. It was great to see her and spend some time with her, we both loved having her, but would love to see Dad here next time too. We were a little spoilt while she was here, feasting on pre dinner drinks and nibblies, having dinner ready for us after work, drinking copious amounts of wine.....not to mention the care package she bought with her for us. Mum and I went on a little mother and daughter road trip for a few [View Full Entry]

Venice with Brock and Tanya Europe » Italy » Veneto » Venice
Venice........what an amazing place, we had a fantastic time and managed to meet up with Brock and Tanya to enjoy a few days together. Friday 14th October We flew out on the Friday evening and after catching planes, buses, waterbuses and doing some walking we eventually found our accomodation at 12:30am. At this point we were really looking forward to our bed! We had pre booked accomodation on a 40 ft yacht which we thought was quite quirky, romantic and appropriate for our stay in Venice. However when we finally found the yacht ('Shuala') we also found the owner (an eccentric [View Full Entry]

Oktoberfest Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
There are a few events in the world which are a must to get to. The Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany is one of these......so off we went! For this trip we hooked up with Fiona and Meaghan who used to work with Justin at the Student Guild, and their respective boyfriends Nick and Doug. Doug's old army mate Waity also came along for the ride. Friday 30/09/05 We arrived at Munich airport late morning and were confronted with the same challenge as with any foreign country - how to work out the train system! Once sorted we met Meaghan, Dougy, Fiona, [View Full Entry]
