After having the wunderful experience of the Moon Eclipse and spending one more night in Tikal, the next morning I left Guatemala, where I had lots of fun and good experinces. I am so thankful for the Guatemaltecas hostility and the grate time I had there. I won't forget the smells, colores, and wunderful life people have there. I wish I was able to see more from Quiche, and northern Guatemala, which gives me an oppurtunity to get back there again. Now enough with Guatemala. I got back to Mexico to Palenque to see more stars and more jungle. I stayed [View Full Entry]

Somethings are just hard to get and worth not to give up. Semuc Champe was one of them. After about two days of travelling, I got there at the back of a truck while looking at the amazing rain forests on the mountains which I don't have a name for it. It is hard to say if the mountains are built of the threes or the jungle is because of the mountains. I hope you get my point ... !!!! If not, let me know so I can improve my english :) This place is famous for its vally with steep [View Full Entry]

Another long day trip to see the moon eclipse in Tikal withouth knowing if I would be able to get inside the ruines. The trip begun at 7 in the morning and I was around 4 in the afternoon right at time at Tikal ruines. As usual, I got lucky and was able to get one of the only two rooms left there. No hamuck, no tent, no dormitory was available. About 400 to 500 people were gathered to see the eclipse in the way an ancient Maya may have experienced before. After meeing couple of friends that I had met [View Full Entry]

Livingstone can be reached by boat only. You can take a boat from Puerto Borias, Rio Dulce, or from Belice. Since I was coming from Hundoras, I took the boat from Puerto Borias. On my way out to Rio Dulce, I stayed 2 nights in Finca Tatin which is in the middle of the rain forest. The days were hot, and nights rainy. This little mixed city of Livingstone is filled with Mayans, Garifunas, and whites and for me was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peacful life of people with various cultures together. Of course the long walk [View Full Entry]

Tela and Omoa

Central America Caribbean » Honduras » Tela
Tela and Omoa are located at Hundoras Bay not so much away from the Bay Islands. The water is nice especially at Omoa, where it gets a green color due to the high vegitation. The beaches are covered with black sand. The trip itself, especially between Omoa and Guatemala boarder is a very nice ride through Guatemala´s rain forest. I would say the best nature and vegitation I have seen so far. After spending about a week in Hundoras, I am happy to be back in Guatemala this time heading towards Livingstone. [View Full Entry]

San Pedro is a little nice village where most people may spend only a day or so, yet it was hard for me to get out of there. I went there for a day trip but stayed two weeks .... Some of the turists stay for couple of weeks to learn spanish on side. The locals are Mayans and let turists to integrate easily. If you get there, go to Santa Clara and walk the mountain to watch the sun rise. We walked it at 4 in the morning. The sun rise view felt like looking at paradise and if I [View Full Entry]

San Pedro at Sun Rise

The ruins: waist of time ... Copan itself: wahhhhhh Copan is a little village located only 12 km from Guatemala boarder in Honduras. The village is surrended by mountains, most locals are farmers, have the most amazing smile, and I let you know later how their horses are. They are also very relaxed and open. The first face to face communication may not feel impressing, but there is lots more coming if you keep the conversation going. [View Full Entry]

Pana
Pana
Looking south at Lake Atitlan from Pana
Panajachel is located at the north side of the Lake Atitlan. This lake, which is surended with mountains, is the most amazing and interesting place I have ever seen. Looking south ate the lake from Pana, at the right side is the San Pedro volcane and at the left the Atitlan and Santiago volcanes. Pana itself has many people that have migrated here from all around the world. Other villages around the lake have each different style and way of living. San Pedro is a popular place for hippies vs. Sant Marcus a place for spiritual people who sleep soon after [View Full Entry]

This picture might be very familar since it has been taken many times and you may have seen a similar one in books or internet
Chichi like everywhere else I have been in Guatemala so far is located in montains in a vally. It is a beautiful village, which is very famous for its Thursday and Sunday markets. If you want to go to Chichi, try to be there a night earlier so you can enjoy the morning when they are setting up for the mercado. [View Full Entry]

Chichi Sunday Market

Just arrived in Guatemala
Just arrived in Guatemala
On my way to Xela taken from inside a chicken bus. You can see another one at the right side.
It was a long waiting for me to get to Guatemala. I had a wunderful leave from Mexico and an interesting arrival at Guatemala. After having my first Chicken Bus trip for about three hours full of advanture, I arrived in Xela and went directly to a Spanish school, where I spent five days of 5 hours a day for private spanish lessons. This included living with a Guatemalan family, where I could learn very fast about this country and its culture, well for sure not everything but enough to integrate. Xela itself did not atract me so much, yet it [View Full Entry]
