A running theme for my time in Mexico has been "You can do whatever you want, you're in Mexico." This weekend I went to Corona Music Fest. We met up with our friend from Britilandia. I drank four beers on the taxi ride to the Estadio Azteca. I bought Bud Light for nostalgic purposes, and a Belgian 9% for enhanced drunkeness purposes. I had some delicious al Pastor before going into the show. I peed in an alley near the entrance. I was cool, but then this guy we were hanging out with, took a pis, and got stopped by the [View Full Entry]

Mexico celebrates Halloween, the way Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. They get a day and a half off. This year Dia De Muertos was on a Thursday, so we didn't have school on Thursday or Friday. I decided to stay in Pachuca on Wednesday night. I went out with my neighbors. My friends told me about a party that they were going to after work. I met them around midnight... and one of their dad's drove us to the party. But it ended by the time we got there. So I ended up eating tacos with her and her dad until 2am. It [View Full Entry]

Cervantino North America » Mexico » Guanajuato
On friday morning before I went to school. I tried to cut my hair into one of those subtle-euro mullet things... but it now just looks like I'm balding. It is pretty sweet though. After school Zach and I, went with our neighbor and her boyfriend to Guanajuato. It is several hours to the rest, depending on how many times your car breaks down (twice on the way there, three times on the way back.) We decided to go to Guanajuato this weekend because it was Cervantino, a thirty-four year old festival celebrating the works of Spanish writer Miguel de [View Full Entry]

Ranchito North America » Mexico » Michoacán
My mom was at a resort in northern Mexico, and she met a really funny couple from Mexico City. They became good friends, and my parents went out to dinner with them in Los Angeles. On Friday my mom told me that they wanted me to visit them at their ranch west of Mexico City. I got in touch with them, and on Saturday morning I made the journey to their estate. I woke up Saturday morning, dying of thirst, from a night of moderate drinking. Water is something you don't really think about in normal drunken circumstances, but in Mexico [View Full Entry]

A weekend. North America » Mexico » Distrito Federal » Mexico City
On Friday we left Pachuca for the Big City, actually the Biggest City in the world, Mexico (City, DF). We took a cab all the way to the Pachuca bus station, before realizing we forgot the keys to my aunt's sweet pad. The taxi driver drove us back home... and then it started it hailing, it was some strange weather that I have never encountered. The taxi driver was the first of many who lived in a suburb of Los Angeles at some point in his life (Simi Valley, Inglewood, Sun Valley.) It takes an hour and a half to get [View Full Entry]

So I finally got sick for the first time since I've been down here. I think it was an egg torta... the worst part was that I went to a buffet, but couldn't eat... That is like the grandest shame in the history of shames that I can imagine. But luckily it was a well-priced vegetarian buffet... so I didn't miss out on too much. I was sick so I didn't have to come to school. I graded papers and updated my ipod... a very productive day in my opinion. In geography class we are learning about the atmosophere. It turns [View Full Entry]

Serpientes a Bordo North America » Mexico » Hidalgo » Pachuca
So I went to see Snakes on a Plane in Pachuca last night. The titular line is ruined by translation. "Estoy cansado sobre esos malditos serpientes abordo este maldito avion." Which translates to: "I am sick of these darn snakes aboard this darn plane." [View Full Entry]

A Pachucan Weekend. North America » Mexico » Hidalgo » Pachuca
I haven't had a weekend in like five years. I, of course, mean that in the most positive of sense. Nearly everyday for the past five years, has been what regular people would consider a weekend. Sure, I had class, obligations, etcetera... but for the most part I could get drunk every night. But for the first time since, high school, I felt like my monday through friday warranted an actual weekend... that is, something to look forward to. On the friday of my first weekend back in the game (being a member of mainstream society, ie. holding a job.) I [View Full Entry]

Tusted? North America » Mexico » Hidalgo » Pachuca
Mexico is great, I haven't even gotten sick. This weekend I went to DF... to visit my family. I have a new baby cousin, and a five year old cousin... It was her birthday. I had a really fun time with her. She is cute and funny... We watched Dora the Explorer... but then when it ended we had to leave... she wanted us to watch more, and was angry that we were leaving... she wouldnt say anything to us. Then we thanked her for inviting us to her birthday. "I didn't invite you, you just showed up." Brutal. We came [View Full Entry]
