Well done for seeing a platapus! Hi there
Well done, we are still yet to see a platapus in the wild, done lots of looking, especially in Tassie. Seen them in wildlife parks.
It's warm and sunny here, we crossed into WA today, had to get rid of all our vege and fruit. Got searched at the border, they didn't like my sliced frozen lemons - dam , thought they would be great in my g & t. In Kununurra for a week or so. Look forward to you eventually catching up to us. Temp here 31 today, now 25 at 7.30pm, no wind! Lovely.
Cheers lynne and Chris
Happy Wanderers I've been keeping track of your progress and it's really great to see you are having such a fantastic time. Also fabulous view on the card which arrived today.
Keep on wandering and be happy - look out for each other.
Brahminy Kite Yes, I think it is! a great spot - I don't remember seeing one on our Aus travels so gudonya! (We're doing quite well with the bird spotting from no. 50 - last night we saw two bull finches). We're pleased to see that it has stopped raining now - meanwhile we have a cloudless blue sky but no doubt it won't last! Love Mum and Dad K
Another 1 sets off for Oz It was Dave's last day @ Tradeteam on Friday. He was resplendant in his "It's a long way to Australia" T-shirt & hat with dangly corks. He could not get through his speech, he was all choked up. I think he starts flying on Monday
Regent Bowerbird We were lucky enough to see a Regent Bowerbird, right by the cafe at O'Reilly's - lovely it was too. It was pouring with rain at the time though! The wildlife around Poplar Avenue is increasing all the time (seriously) - last night 3 Oystercatchers flew over and today there's been a buzzard hanging around and a kestrel flew over as well - fantastic! Of course, they can't come too close as the Tiger will get them!
Living the Dream Reading this blog and looking at the photos is like taking 2 youn g kids into the biggest sweet shop in the world.
Living the dream fast cars, fast bikes, beer and most of all no work in the morning !!
Photos Hi DASH,
Cracking photos, we can not wait to see more when you get back. Its sounds like a great weekend. Louis is hoping to test out his new camera this weekend at Summer Nationals. Speak to you soon, Lisa & the Boys
Wow I can't believe you've hit QLD already, it took me 6 months to get that far when I was over there. Your pics of the flooding near the campsite reminded me of when I did Jacobs creek; that was in full flood (and still only 6 feet wide). Still, you two clearly having fun eh?
Sweetie We are very impressed with the internal design and storage areas of Sweetie, not to mention the stack of apples and oranges! Can we have a photo of Sarah on her bike please? Love Mum and Dad K
Camel We were surprised that you've seen wild camels already as we didn't see any until we were really in the outback somewhere near Alice Springs. Love Mum K
Who am I? This could be a banded lapwing but I have to ponder more to get a positive ID. I think I can name the earlier bird I was puzzling over - I'm pretty sure it's a masked lapwing. (I know I should be gardening but it's just too hot at the moment!) Love Mum K
Newcastle Hey when i was there i stopped with my uncle just up from Newcastle in a little place called Tanilba Bay also near Nelsons Cove I think its called but it a wicked area.
:o)
manly cove hi nice to read your blogs the comment about shag losing weight have gone out of the window if you look at the picture of both of you at manly cove ha ha speak soon
Come on, keep up Need more updates, they get me through the day at work... I have a good chance of making Oz this time next year, fancy a drink just before you come back?
Welcome, come in, take a seat and enjoy the view!
We were lucky enough to be in a position to make one of our dreams come true and it's hard to believe that we can now say we've 'been there and done that! It was the sort of adventure that 'normal people' like us could only dream about, taking a year out of work and travelling around Australia in a caravan towed by a 4WD. Somehow though we managed to turn it into a reality and between April 28th 2009 and April 26th 2010 that's exactly what we did.
Our beautiful home and much loved cat in Moira, Derbyshire, UK were looked after by fami... full info
