From Phuket's lovely beach at Nai Yang, I travelled north to the more rustic beach at Khao Lak. It was here that I noticed the most devastation from the Tsunami. [View Full Entry]

How cute are the beach bungalows in Langkawi?

On route from Taiping to Penang I was spied and kidnapped by the cyclist thief, David. He is an avid collector of cyclists and had already captured a Dutch couple the day before. Later that day he also captured a couple from Wigan, Jan and John...It was a good week for him. David's hospitality was astounding. He allowed us all to stay in his home free of charge and his wife cooked us a fantastic Indian vegetarian (on my account) evening meal and breakfast the next day. [View Full Entry]

Taiping and Bukit Lauret Asia » Malaysia
Taiping is an intriguing town which the guide talked about negatively but I thought was an interesting stop on route to the coast. I also wanted to visit a hillstation and Bukit Lauret (Malaysia'a oldest) is situated just (almost all uphill, over 1400m) 12km's from the town. [View Full Entry]

The GAA Allstars Hurling game in the Singapore Polo Grounds....surreal to say the least. But great fun, booze and free food! Followed by an Irish bar....you just can't get away from them! Departed Singapore Monday for the short hop across the causeway border into Malaysia. It was my first ride on my mountain bike with both slicks and fully laden panniers so it took a bit of getting used to. So only 28km's were clocked [View Full Entry]

First Internet Cafe! Asia » Singapore
Hi from Very Sunny, Very Humid, Very Hectic, Very Beautiful Singapore! I finally located my first Internet Cafe! Still jetlagged (my excuse for any grammatical errors), slept in today until almost midday. Singapore is hectic urban centre. Too many shops.......too little space in my panniers. I've resisted so far.......but I don't think it'll last long. May have to post stuff home. Everything's in English so it's really easy to navigate around. The MRT underground rail system is a breeze. Off to see a GAA hurling match this evening. You can't get away from the Irish. Then o [View Full Entry]
