The People We Meet I fully agree, when traveling, it's not what you see, but who you meet. Alone, with someone new, a random local, a little kid, a great friend... it will totally change your experience depending who you are with. A good example of this in my life is when I traveled to Sun Valley for the first time with my family. I got stuck on a bus because of airport closures, which most people would be upset about. But instead, I had a great bus trip because I got to meet you and chat all bus ride long :-) Safe Travels!! Looking forward to the next blog (and I do think you are an amazing photographer!!). Cheers from Seattle! - Chris
We are so glad you got to Barcelona even if you didn't see all the sites. We are dieing to go back ourselves. The people are certainly the best part about the city but the view from the top of the Sagrada Familia is amazing!
Have fun!
so exciting!!! that is so great Christy!! Brian and I are so excited for you. Africa is going to be amazing. We can keep up with each other over our blogs. We are we will be in San Jose del Cabo tonight. have a great time!!! - sarah and brian
Tanzania Hey Christy ~
Mambo, Vipi! (Swahili for 'Hey! Howzit!')
Great call...you won't be dissapointed. Make sure you have dinner/ drinks and maybe spend a night @ the Karama Lodge (on the Southern outskirts of Arusha, up the hill from the 'Masai Camp' hostel). That was my spot while I was there - very chill little 'getaway' only a mile or two from 'downtown'...
Also check out Via Via for live music and the Colobus Club (if you have a group or an escort) for late-night boogeying.
I made some contacts in Arusha while I was there. Let me know if you need a friendly face and I'll put you in touch.
africa hi christy
i was in tanzania about 15 years ago and have kept a friend over the years. he was the campground guard at Ngorogoro crater. he has 10 kids and one is a guide in tanzania now, around some of the parks (not sure which ones). he told me if i ever have any friends going over to call. If you are interested i have his cell phone. email me at scapano@hotmail.com -
good choice on continents to visit and ways to go. you either go to africa on a shoestring or like the rich and famous. i advise the first , youll really get to know the people that way. my africa time was a top highlight of my travel life. theres soooo much too see you'll need more time though. iwas in 6 countries for 6 weeks if youwant any more ideas on where to go. take care - suzy

Great to see you at LAX. So funny. What a small world. Have a great trip. Maybe I'll remember something about the new cooking skills I picked-up from Guido at Badia by the time you are back. Remember if you are in Milan I have a place for you!
Keep it comin Geez Christy, you're a traveling fool. We're all jealous of course, but at least we get to see the world through our friend's eyes (you and Sarah currently)! I'll be a regular reader...

i am thinking of Thailand for a diving trip. Any suggestions? As for Eastern Europe i hear a lot about the Croatian Riviara. Very quaint and old charm sans the development.

Keep on truckin'!!!!!!

Christy - when you get back to SF, if I buy you a drink, will you teach me how to get on the Christy program for living life?! Have a wonderful summer in Europe... and looking forward to having you back in SF for good! I hope you make it to eastern Europe!
WOW! Thanks for updating my email address. I love your updates and am so happy to hear about all your adventures. Can't wait for our next bottle of wine together in the fall. Cheers! -G.

I'm so jealous! I wish I was travelling instead of working. I have another friend who is currently in Europe. She has been travelling for almost a year now. Keep me up-to-date on where you go...who knows, the two of you may be in the same city and I can introduce you. She too has a travel blog. ottsworld.com

The journey continues . . . As many of you have predicted and requested, the traveling and the travel blog continues. I'm heading back to London with a three month ticket. I have no plans yet, just a bunch of ideas, but I'm looking forward to seeing where I end up and enjoying my last hoorah before going back to a mortgage paying US Citizen again.
May 2006
My new journey in life begins with a four month trip through Europe, through August 31st. I have rented my home in San Francisco for 1 year, so who knows, this journal may continue past August! Stay tuned and enjoy!... full info
