Suprise, I'm Home!
Well, not really a suprise, but my sister in law Christa, Taylor and Kylie were as excited as I was. Yes, it's true, the travel blog is back, which means, yes, I am going back on the road! So, where have I been and what have I been doing the last eight months? Here's the QUICK recap and some photos . . .
THE RECAP:
I arrived back to LA and took a road trip north for my friend Michi's wedding and then up to Bend, OR, to spend some time with my Dad golfing (very rusty on my golf skills, but oh well). Next stop was back down south for two months in Rancho Santa Fe, CA to help my Mom move into her new home.
After a quick trip to Mexico to celebrate my birthday and thanksgiving with my family, I signed on to a contracting job back in San Francisco from Nov - May. Since my house is still being rented out, I stayed in a furnished apartment near the Embarcadero in the city. It was a beautiful area to live in and very convenient (not Laguna and Union, but it was good). The time in San Francisco flew by, (code for I worked A LOT), but it was an amazing time and I made some
The Best Homecoming
My nieces Taylor and Kylie (and Maya the dog). great new friends and colleagues and also had the opportunity to travel to Asia. It was a very quick trip, but I was able to experience enough to know I want to go back. Last stop was back to Mexico for Cinco de Mayo and my sister's wedding.
WHAT'S NEXT:
I've made the decision to move back to San Francisco in the Fall (yay!), so until then, I'm going for one more summer extravaganza in Europe. How long? 3 months. Where? I don't know.
I'm heading out Thursday to London, where it all began last year. From there I hope to get to Spain and spend some quality time there. Also thinking about Eastern Europe. I guess you'll know when I know. If you have any recommendations of places you know I'd love, let me know.
Although I may not know where I'm going, I do know what I'll be doing differently this time around:
1) I'm bringing my laptop. The money I spent on Internet Cafes last summer could have bought me a computer. So expect improved spelling (spellcheck!) and better quality photos (iPhoto!).
2) Telephoto Lens! SO excited. I just bought it and can't
Healdsburg, CA
Michi & Jon's Wedding - The reason for my return home. wait to use it!
3) Cuter travel clothes - So Cal surf shops are the way to go!
3) Maybe one extra pair of shoes and a couple more lotions and potions??? :-)
Well, that's it for now. If you're anywhere in Europe over the next three months, or you want to come meet me, shoot me an email (my phone will be turned off as of Thurs for 3 months). As always, I LOVE getting all your comments along my journey, so keep 'em coming.
Oh, and if you're wondering how my flight home from Thailand turned out (see previous entry), God, or fashion, was on my side. After a VERY long delay (leaving plenty of time to look presentable for an upgrade), I was upgraded to first class with no one sitting in the seat next to me. It was the most beautiful flight ever!
