No Rain in Spain Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
The cold freeze of Switzerland required drastic measures. Either it was to turn into a freakin snowman, or jump onto a plane to Spain. So be it, I got onto my EasyJet plane and rode south. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Barcelona. Say it with me, "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah". Warm(er) weather, Christmas lights everywhere, and the hustle and bustle of a Mediterranean country I've been missing. Not to mention the chance to spend a 4 days on my own again, and to crash late-night in a youth hostel. For two days with my folks, we saw possibly every existing site of Barcelona, from the Montj [View Full Entry]

The Good News Beers Europe » Switzerland » North-West » Basel
Ah free booze. For some, an unexpected sign that heaven can exist on Earth. For others, a surefire ticket to hell. Today, everything bad in the world was forgotten in favor of all-you-can-drink beer. In breaking news: Rheinfelden, Switzerland The Feldschlösschen Brewery in Rheinfelden was shut down due to a lack of beer. The Rachelson Family took the all-you-can-drink tasting session a little too seriously and was too strong a force for the factory's 90,000 bottles an hour production. Although free food was also given - including fleischekase (german for "meat-cheese" a [View Full Entry]

So Chill(y) Europe » Switzerland » North-West » Basel
So that's where I get the chill from! It's cold as a penguin's ass here in Switzerland, but I don't mind it. Basel seems to deal with their coldness as if they've seen it before. The decide to have 8 km footraces at night at near 0 degree (C) weather (or so my parents tell me). They set up their roasted chestnut stands during the day, and even though my nose is normally numb I still seem to be able to smell that goodness. Fresh from the beaches in Israel to the overcast crispness of Switzerland, I got a numb feeling [View Full Entry]

Does the above thing exist? It seems to in the Old City of Jerusalem. Yup, I'm back in Israel, and back in Jerusalem. I decided to ditch my Israeli friends and take a day to myself in the old city, where the Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Armenian quarters all meet. I've seen orthodox Jews wandering the streets with their 8 children or more, I've seen Israeli-Arab's (Muslims) selling their raw cow hides, knick-knacks, tee shirts, and chessboards, I've seen Christians with their heads pressed down on The Stone of the Anointing, (the place where Jesus' body was prepared for burial), and [View Full Entry]

Halleluyah, Gawd Almighty!

A beautiful horizon of dark turquoise water relaxes and tempts you to sit, to hear it longer, to listen to its moaning, soft up-and-down of the miniature breaking waves. Just within reach. Almost a complimentary sound, the arabic princess gracing the speakers above brings up images of her smooth and curving facial features, kind of like the arabic alphabet. She sings her song of anguish and loneliness, I presume, because the slow ballad rhythm slows the heartbeat and her sounds linger with rolled r's and k's. Alas, I am broken from her spell by the colorful sustainance arriving in the h [View Full Entry]

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream, It is not dying, it is not dying Lay down al thoughts, surrender to the void, It is shining, it is shining. Yet you may see the meaning of within It is being, it is being Love is all and love is everyone It is knowing, it is knowing And ignorance and hate mourn the dead It is believing, it is believing But listen to the colour of your dreams It is not leaving, it is not leaving So play the game "existence" to the end Of the beginning, of the beginning [View Full Entry]

Aga Khan rests in the sunset

Ah, Africa, technically. I've made it to Egypt after the most rediculous bus ride of my life. I left Jerusalem at 8:30 in the morning for Egypt by way of Eilat-Taba border, through Sinai past the Suez Canal to Cairo, wow. I got on the bus with room for 20, but only 4 people were aboard, myself and three Muslims that were speaking only Arabic, not even Hebrew. SHIT! So I sulked to the back of the bus to read, sleep, daydream, etc. But in Tel-Aviv the bus filled up every seat. Nice. On board were some really amazing people that [View Full Entry]

Taba Border

Sun is shining, weather is sweet here in Jerusalem. Thanks, Bob Nesta Marley The "homeland" of Israel is now my home, and will be for a while. I flew in last week and arrived at 4:30 in the morning in a completely dark new country. What to do? I slept in the airport for over an hour. I kept waking up thinking that Israeli soldiers with guns would slightly or not so slightly poke me with the tips of their guns as if I were a dirty stray dog and tell me to move on. So the hour sleep only felt [View Full Entry]
