I was born in the Cayman Islands, and then moved to Kansas when I was five with my family. Know I am a junior at Kansas State University, studying philosophy and history, but I will be spending the next four months studying at Oxford University in the UK.

Hey All, As I wrote about in my last update, I have gone to and returned from Amsterdam. It was a good time. Roz, Liz and I left Oxford on Wednesday at about 7:30am. We had a little problem earlier that morning with Roz having no money because her bank would not let her transfer money from her savings to her checking, and she had also over slept, but I all got worked out and we got on the 7:30 train. We had to take a 2 hour train to London, then a tube ride to another train station then another hour ride to Luton airport. So with about 4 hours of travelling to the airport we took a 38 minute flight to Amsterdam. I love air travel! We get to Amsterdam and got to hour ... read more

Hey Guys, Yesterday, I went on another trip with my program to Stratford upon Avon. The first place we went was to Shakespeare’s house that has been turned into a museum. It was fairly interesting, but not terribly exciting. The next place we went was to the Holy Trinity Church to see Shakespeare’s grave, but the church closed 10 minutes before we got there. So we wondered around the gardens, which was a really old graveyard. It was a really beautiful church. Then later the best part of the evening happened, which was that we saw the production of Shakespeare’s ’As You Like It’ at the Royal Shakespeare Play House. It was very well done. The set was amazing. It had this huge tree in the middle of the set that the actors would climb up ... read more

Hey guys, I have not up dated in a while because I have been sick all week, but I am feeling better now. One of the funnest things I did last week was on Tuesday night. I went to a pub called the wheat sheaf to see a concert. I only knew of the headlining band, which was Dearhoof. They are this crazy band from San Francisco that has a Asian girl lead singer. She was really cool. She would do this Tai Chi kind of stuff while she was singing that represent what she was singing about. And the band was also really good also. If anyone reading this is into indie rock I recommend you check them out. There was also this single guy that opened for them, who was not very good, (he ... read more

Hey guys, It is another beautifully sunny day in Oxford. It is the second one in a row. Sunny days here are amazing because they are so few it really makes you appreciate them. Yesterday I was just walking through the city trying to get the library or trying to burn some time and it was amazing how the light would break through the spaces between the archaic stone buildings. I am really enjoying this city. This past week I have been very busy with work and play. That it why I have not undated in a while. I had my first tutorial on Monday, and for that tutorial (and every tutorial) I am have to write between a 1500-3000 work essay. So, I was reading and writing all week getting ready for it. Then I ... read more

Hello Again, I hope you all are doing well? Yesterday afternoon was amazing. A couple of my friends and I when walking through a large public meadow called ‘Port Meadow’ to a country pub called ‘The Trout Inn’. I was a beautiful day! We strolled along the Thames, which is called the Isis in Oxford, and there are horses that graze freely in meadow that we petted. Then on the way back from having dinner at the pub there was an amazing sun set. I was a bit worried about not being able to go out into nature much while I was here, but this meadow is a 2 minute walk from my flat. I will be going there as often as possible. Last night I also went to a performance of Hamlet at the Oxford ... read more

I have finally made it to Oxford. I have been traveling around the UK for the last couple of weeks with my parents. We started out in Oxford and drove up to Edinburgh, Scotland via the Lake District and Glasgow. Then we went to Dover and saw the white cliffs and took a ferry over to the north coast of France for a day. We then spent a day in London seeing all the touristy things, and then we ended up back in Oxford. My Oxford Program started on Tuesday, and we have had a bunch of lectures on the British culture, about the city of oxford, and about how the University runs. The president on the program is a hilarious. He is an older fellow who worked in the State Department, Pentagon, and the National ... read more
