Hello everyone! This blog is a bit of a cheat but is the way to contact the majority of people I haven't managed to see and tell my news. When I came back from India in May, an old friend (male) got in touch with me and to cut a long story short the timing was perfect for us both this time round. So I have taken the enormous leap and moved to Norfolk to share his lovely cottage and build a new life here. I love the area - quiet and countryside and have lots of plans to do things. Hello everyone I have come back home a few days early as the humidity was beginning to get to me and 4 weeks of bad hair days is enough for anyone ! Also there has been a family problem. So am formulating my thoughts and feelings about India while sorting out my house and reacquainting myself with the joys of cooking and cleaning - nearly forgot how to do any of it it's been so long! This Indian experience has made me realise that I don't like dirt and I am easliy irritated by persistence of hawkers. I have seen some [View Full Entry]

Well it's still hot and humid and you just gotta get used to it! I have spent a week in Trivandrum learning the basics of Ayurveda and decided that may as well have consultation and treatments while I was there. It was a very "Indian" organised centre - quite small and intimate. Great food and I had an apartment on the roof to stay in. Once again I was the only Brit and as usual the oldest. The other girls were very friendly ..from Malaysia, Finland and France. so have been massaged daily, given all sorts of medicines and do feel [View Full Entry]

We are packing so much in ..no wonder I feel like I have heat exhaustion ! Not really! But every day is such a bad hair day I despair of ever looking reasonable. But we attract so much attention it is better to be white than be white and beautiful!!!!!!!!!! Abridged highlights:- Pondicherry is French/Indian town with a bit of charm but the main reason why people come is to visit the ashram of Sri Aurobindo who was a politician but became spiritual and developed a view of how we should improve oursleves to be able to live together in harmony. And so from freezing UK to boiling Kerala - at least 38 degrees and humid with it!! All went well landing in Kochi - much nicer than Mumbai. Lots of coconut palms and greenery. Few beggars ( discouraged by Govt) and of course mad traffic. With a group of 9 people ( the oldest as usual!) and am sharing with Helen from Perth Aus who is very laid back and good company. Others from Denver, Munich. Belfast and Nottingham and Preston. Have spent 2 days in homestay on backwaters with slow boat rides accompanied by Keralan chants from the rowers ( [View Full Entry]

If you don't....stop reading now :) Good news: Am now out of plaster after only 4 wks . That's really good apparently. So I reckon it's all thanks to absent healing ( those who sent it to me ), Reiki and healing meditation I say. The consultant didn't think so!! Started physio on Wed and can walk with crutches properly at last. Am doing better than I thought as was vey anxious without plaster on to [View Full Entry]

I am writing this in my sister's spare room with one foot in plaster and a very bruised other foot! Let me explain!! The Indian disaster.... in trying to avoid Mumbai as my accommodation was round the corner from the Taj Hotel and seemed a bit risky so soon after the terrorists had visted, I planned to spend 1 night in an airport hotel before flying on to Pune. The hotel was at least 30 mins form the airport driven by an Indian who couldn't speak any English just called me sister and who didn't know where it was! When we [View Full Entry]

here he is

Arrived in Alice Springs to thunderstorms and river flooding which hasn't happened for 16 years ! Roads closed as under water. ( Not my fault - honest!). Have great pictures of Aborigine children playing in the brown water. Don't know why they weren't at school. Alice is weird place , there is an uneasiness about it which makes a tourist feel uncomfortable. There are groups of disconnected Aborigines wandering around or sitting in groups on the grass. Bit of a probelm with alcohol too. Whites don't talk to them except for a few tourists as there is sometimes 'artwork' to buy. [View Full Entry]
