Nisshi! It's been two weeks since, I've updated. I don't even remember where to start again. I think I'll talk about Hakone, and of course Sweets Paradise. Okay, so Temple set up a trip for us to go to an area of Japan called Hakone. It's a couple hours outside of Tokyo, and it a really beautiful area, with a great view of all the mountain ranges and stuff. There were a lot of nice things to see there. I actually got to kneel in on a Buddhist prayer ceremony, which was pretty interesting stuff. Then there was the world famous Hakone Open Air Museum. That place was insaannneee. It was a giant outside area filled with ridiculous sculptures and even a foot bath! I stayed at a hotel that was somewhat like a ryokan, with ... read more

Hey ol' buddy ol' pal, another crazy weekend in the books, I think this one def topped all the rest in terms of edge of your seat excitement and just all around awesomeness though. So 5 other fellas and I decided we wanted to go to the town of Yamanouchi, which has a world famous monkey park located there. Yamanouchi, just so happens to be not too far from Nagano, the sight of the 1998 Winter Olympics. I have a feeling the people there have just wanted to keep pretending that it is 1998 for the rest of time. I mean really, I thought we just missed the Olympics or something, but no, we missed them by a decade. So first stop at Nagano was at world famous Zenko-Ji Temple. It was really amazing, we went ... read more

Nich! Sorry I haven't written, silly old travel blog had a little mix up with my password, but don't worry! Everything is a-ok, don't you worry you imaginary head about it. So! As you can possibly tell from the title of this lil' blog, this was once again another awesome/crazy/overwhelming weekend. Lets take it day by day, shall we?: Friday- So here we are, the weekend begins. The week sadly is filled with a lot of work, school, gym, and exploring interesting places to eat. Not a bad life, but I really need to start using my weekdays to the maximum. But I digress, Friday I figured it would be a really really good idea to stay out till first train. (Which for those of you not experienced with this wonderful city, that is around 5 ... read more

Hey there, I said I would write about my Sunday adventure, so here I am to deliver. So here is a quick history lesson that will help explain what I did better: After WWII America held a big ass trial to kill all the major war criminals. So we ended up convicting 14 "class A" criminals and they were promptly put to death. Now these were the big boys, the generals and the heads of the government that we felt were the ones most responsible for the war crimes committed by Japan. So fast forward to 1985, when one of the heads of a shrine that honors those that died for Japan felt it would be a good idea to put in these 14 war criminals. Now obviously this pissed everyone off, including the Emperor of ... read more

Hey Nisshi, Sorry I haven't visited in a while, this weekend was a little bit nuts. I think I'll break this bad boy up into two parts. One for the culture and historical aspects of Tokyo, and this entry here. I'll call this one a shit show. The good kind. Picture if you will a Smirnoff Split. Now this is a pregame the likes of which have never been heard. It is when three young lads think it will be good idea to pregame with a fifth of vodka that goes by the name of Smirnoff. Now that would be bad enough right? Yes, here is a picture to prove it: img=http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r175/Brenc528/sake%20party%20and%20other%20weekend/SakeTastingNight010.jpg That would be me and my buddy Jack hanging out on the subway, and yes we are very very drunk. I should also mention ... read more

hey Nisshi, I just realized I didn't publish the blog before this, WHOOPS! I'm sorry to all my dedicated readers that live through me, but that will soon change. This was the first week of real life school in Japan, and it was a doozy Since Temple does not like making things easy for us study abroad kids, we had to pick up a "gajin card" for all of those that were not born in Japan. So that was really hectic, but it was finished and I am now back to livin' the life. Now I love Tokyo as much as the next guy, but I do not like one thing. The food NEVER fills you up here. Like one minute you will be finishing up your meal, and then you walk out of the store ... read more

Wow, so this weekend got a little nuts. So first off, we have Saturday night. One word karaoke. And one pictures to describe this night pretty well: img=http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r175/Brenc528/First%20days%20in%20Japan/FirstDaysInJapan038.jpg So we went to this place called BIG ECHO, and it was big and echoy let me tell you. We rocked out pretty hard, but the highlight of the night (from what I can remember) had to be 16 drunk gajin singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. And one kid threw up in the hallway, that was a big messy, but that did not put a damper on our night. Phew, it was a super dooper time. Then on Sunday we visited Harajuku. It was soo crowded. And a few people and myself went to the COOLEST STORE EVER. It was a store just filled with awesomeness. ... read more

Hey there diary. This is Brenden. It is about 1:30 in the am and I just got back from a place that overcharged for chicken on a skewer, though they were delicious. You also might be happy to know that I had my first legal beer! Or if you were a good influence on me you would say that was a bad thing, wouldn't you diary. You always are looking out for me, what a good friend. Still haven't thought up a name for you yet, I'm working on it, but I'm a busy man. One of the reasons I'm so busy is because I have to try and translate menus that look like this (PS, I failed): img=http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r175/Brenc528/First%20days%20in%20Japan/FirstDaysInJapan012.jpg No idea if that actually worked. I sure hope it did. That was at a delliicciouuss ramen ... read more

Journal, I never been on an airplane for that long, so I am nervous. 17 hours! can you believe it journal! Well this entry is obviously not ... read more
