Spent most of the day relaxing and planning the next part of our trip, nice chilled our day. Visited our favourite "aroy" lady for tea and then headed on to the night bazaar. There were the typical craking frogs, watches, dvd, but lots of other wierd and wonderful things, I also found some nice fisherman pants so had a little barter. Special banana rotti's were a late night snack. ... read more

We woke a bit late and decided to have a look in and around the city walls. The old town was enclosed by a 30 foot wall and very ancient looking. We had soup and rice for breakfast with a nice iced lemon tea which was perfect. We wnated to go and relax somewhere so went to city park and had a look around the lakes at all the big fish then decided to have a lie down on the grass. For tea we went to visit our favourite lady who made us perfect thai grub in her garage.... read more

We had breakfast and walked up to the Ping River to have a look at the boats and view, and decided to have a nose around the Chedi. It was absolutely beautiful, with a perfect view of the river, nice tropical ponds and fantasic wooden framed builings surrounded by lots of candles and lights. After a day in the sun we head back to the hostel for some nice food. ... read more

Egg and toast was for breakfast, a pretty good start to the day. Then we head to met our new found friend the Tuk Tuk lady (her actual name) and her little boy had come for todays adventure! We were off to Mae sa elephant camp. It was up in the mountains so the journey on the Tuk Tuk was pretty exciting. When we arrived we bought some banana's and began our ride through the jungle. The journey was a bit bumpy on the back of MAE MOO II, our 30 year old young lady! She was pretty friendly and loved the banana's but her Mahout who was sat on her head was a little crazy, and kept laughing and singing, all added to the fun of the journey. The best bit was bumbling through the ... read more

For breakfast we were naughty and visited the golden arches, the began a trek to find the local bus station, it was a disaster trying to find and instead grabbed a tuk tuk. It was a young woman who I bartered with for a little bit then we were on our way to 'Tiger Kingdom'! Pretty unusual flying down the motorway at crazy speeds with no side to the vehicle, even more strange when she stopped in the middle of the motorway and a motorbike pulled up with 2 guys on, one jumping off the back and began driving our Tuk tuk, only in Thailand! On arrival we saw a big Camel which was pretty unexpected, then we bought our tickets making sure they were the full shabam! We went in with 7 month old Lions ... read more

After hearing lots of banging and people talking it was clear that it was morning and time to get up. Laura read her book and I just took in the scenery, all sorts of unusual things. We finally arrived in Chiang mai late by a few hours at around 11:30, we jumped in a red tuk tuk taxi, with all our stuff piled in along with many others all of us like sardines, within minutes we were at Centre place, our new home for six days. We threw our bags in the room and went for an explore, both of us starving by now. We found a nice little place near the city walls then had a look around the maze of small streets and lanes, the heat was a little unbearable after a while so ... read more

Today is our last day in Bangkok so were going to relax, then I had a sudden spurt of life and said lets go and see the 'Temple of Dawn'. We jumped on the bus and head to the Palace the walked to the river. We had some dinner in a shack on stilts on the river right next to the temple and watched the boats go up and down as were ate our food and sipped our ice cold Chang! Once we were ready to go again we jumped on the long boat and cruised down the river. Surrounded by Monks it was pretty surreal. After a nice little cruise we jumped off and got the skytrain back to our place. We hung around for an hour doing some research fo our next stop Chiang ... read more

After another breakfast in the blistering heat we walked around to the sky train and jumped on headed to central. Snake farm day!! We had a tour of all the dangerous snakes whilst safely behind glass, the saw some other wild beasties outside. Water snakes were creepy and clearly contemplating eating Laura!! Afterwards we got a nice ice cream and sat down ready to watch the snake show. The guys were just taunting snakes about a metre away, atleast it was only the likes of King Cobras. KING COBRAS, ONLY ONE OF THE MOST DEADLY SNAKES IN EXISTENCE!! We watched some other snakes and one of the handlers got bitten buy one fortunately not a poisonous one! It was a cool and exciting afternoon. We stopped for some food near Siam, which was good, the jumped ... read more

Breakfast pretty similar then we caught the number 33 bus to the Grand Palace. We jumped off the bus which was free!! Then tried to go into the museum. CLOSED! Instead we jumped on a little Tuk Tuk and agreed a fee of 60 baht to give us a tour. He took us to the standing gold buddha, and waited. Then the lying down gold buddha, and waited. Then the sitting gold buddha, and waited. Then took us back to the Grand Palace. CHEAP!! After checking out the Palace and surrounding area we walked to Khao San road were we had a curry each and a Fanta. Breakfast was smiley face toast, and coffee, with a bit of Thai television. We had a chillout out in the garden for a bit despite it was the hottest place I have ever been in my life!! Felt the heat could punch you over. After a bit we went for an explore and found a little market and shopping centre. We decided to eat in there , MK restaurant. Noodles and the usual poor excuse for meat. With the heat being insane we head back to the hostel for air con, and television. Tea time we had another wander, still very humid, and found a little sea food restaurant. We had juice smoothies and some very spicy dishes. Really good food in comparison to China. ... read more
