We woke up early, packed up our things and checked out. We walked with our bags to the pier and bought our boat tickets. We grabbed some crouissants and drinks from 7 11 and then got on the boat back to the main land. To get on the boat you have to climb over the side. I always feel like I am going to fall in the water because I have my backpack on my back. One day I'm going to fall backwards. Top told us that when we got off the boat we'd catch a blue/indigo bus on the same side of the street to Rayong... so we sat there with the taxi motorcycles waiting for a bus to go by. They eventually asked us where we were going and we told them. They told ... read more
Hello again! Week 5 and just finished working on Turtle Island. It was hard work and not so much fun cleaning turtle poo and chopping fish guts! Working in the turtle nursery was good though, cleaning their shells and giving them medicine. We also combed the beach for plastic and glass rubish and swept leaves, which i thought was a bit odd on a deserted island?!! Been living in a shared house with the other volunteers, but there is no aircon. The heat is getting to me a bit now and ive been attacked by sand flys this week, i look like i have a leg of measles. We had to get an 8am boat to the island each morning, my stomach dropped as we walked towards what i can only describe as the most sinkable ... read more
Part 1 of 3: Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam in Three Weeks. Visiting Bangkok, Ban Phe, and Nong Khai.

Journal 2009 Thailand/Laos/Vietnam 15 December 2009 (Trip Dates: 12/16/09-1/7/09) As I embark on another journey, this time to Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, I am reminded of how many times I have journeyed somewhere, even within, to achieve or accomplish something. Sometimes the journey has been for the discovery of enlightenment, other times for adventure, sun, or to help others (e.g. the Dancing Bears of India or the Elephants of India and Thailand). Well, this journey really has no felt purpose. Sure there will be sun, which will be much appreciated at this time of year, and most certainly it will be an adventure, yet I have no expectations. My husband plans on checking out a few language schools, in case he decides he may want to teach overseas someday. For me, I am along ... read more
goodbye Cambodia, hello Thailand..
Published: December 10th 2009Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » RayongDay 10 n 11 - Dec 8/9 Today we leave Cambodia but our flight is not until late afternoon, so we spent most part of the day walking around, there is a Royal Palace here so while walking we think ah would be fun to take a rickshaw out to there, only cost us $2, so we hail one down, the poor man must have been well into his 60's, we both climb in, so funny and scary at the same time, we even had a race with another rickshaw driver, we were all laughing, got some good video footage of that. Anyway,we get to the Palace go to the entrance and realise that its over $6 each, now we are not tight on paying to see sights, but the previous day we had gone to ... read more
As many of you know, our church has been caught up in planning this year's English Camp. Every year we invite students from Ramkhamhaeng University to join us for a three day camp over a Buddhist holiday. I am pleased to report that this year's camp was a smashing success. We started the day early meeting at 6:00 for prayer before the campers arrived for registration. This is probably the biggest outreach of the whole year for us, so everyone was involved. All of the residents at the church came to camp, so I had to pack my pet fish along, since there would be no one here to feed him. He did just fine with the travel. On the bus ride up we played some games. One was a game where you had to say ... read more

These past few days have been pretty slow, as we hoped they would be since today we take off for Cambodia and then to Vietnam. We basically spent the week in Rayong swimming with the kids and lying in the sun. One of the days we hired a boat and took it to Ko Mannai and Ko Mannok, two islands so close you can see them from the house. The first is a turtle sanctuary and the second is its neighboring island with some great little reefs for snorkeling. After that relaxing week on the beach we headed back to Bangkok for the weekend to party and pack our bags before hitting the road again.... read more
