Dear all, Can you believe it...we are now half way through our trip! We have spent the past six months travelling through Asia...Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. I love Asia and I am glad that we spent a good chunk of time here but I am now ready to move on. Also these are all countries that I have been lucky enough to visit before but in the next segment of travelling I am visiting plenty of new places. In about ten days we are heading to Palau in Micronesia and I am very excited about that! I think that things are going to get even more different and exotic! For anyone who hasn't been lucky enough to travel or is thinking about it..it really is an individual experience and it is hard to sum ... read more

Dear all, So we had been on Boracay for five days and we had walked/run 41miles up and down the famous White Beach...it was safe to say that we had seen the beach and that it was time to move on! We had also been lucky enough to join in with the Ati Atihan celebrations, although I still don't fully know what we were celebrating! We packed up our bags and 1 tricycle, 1 boat, 2 buses, 2 taxies, 1 plane and a truck later we arrived in Moalboal on Cebu. We checked into the room that I had booked only to find that it was about the size of a broom cupboard and that the free in room WIFI didn't actually exist!! But on the plus side it was clean and there were no bugs ... read more

De ville ... read more

So we arrived in the Philippines just in time for my birthday, so thought it would be a good idea to head straight to a beach with diving for Dom and a luxury resort for me! So we spent an interesting night in Manila and then hopped straight on a flight to Cebu city where we spent an entire day looking for accommodation. We are seriously about to throw our lonely planet away as it just sucks, in fact we're not sure the people who write the Philippines section have ever been here! The bus from Cebu to Moalboal where we headed with Lisa and James was also good fun, there's no need to visit theme parks here just hop on a bus where they dive 100km an hour and overtake where ever the hell they ... read more

I, together with my wife and two kids just came home here in Cebu from our 1 week vacation in Silay City Negros Occidental. Me and my family spend our Christmas in my birthplace every Christmas. It was a very tiring travel because we traveling sitting in the Ceres Bus for almost 7 hours. It is always a happy vacation because I always see my parents, brothers and sisters every Christmas. This is also the time that we get together and reunite. Our trip is always exciting because we travel at night. It is always a night trip that we choose because we arrive there in the morning and vice versa. My birthpalce Silay City in Negros Occidental is a good place to spend Christmas Vacation. I included some pictures when we roam arround the Plaza ... read more

We've done some real traveling since our last blog. From Alona Beach we moved to a nearby village and had 3 nights at a real nice French owned place, Alumbung. The cottages were two story and really nice. Steves favorite thing was the outside shower in our own tropical garden! After a month of beach life we fancied a change so headed for the jungle on mainland Bohol. A short boat ride up the Loboc river (we felt like Bruce Parry on the Amazon) brought us to Nuts Huts, a place we'd heard a lot about. Nuts Huts is a hippie health retreat in the middle of nowhere. We were greeted halfway up the 250 steps to the reception by a 1 meter long iguana (between the eyes Eric!) very scary! The owner suggested that we ... read more

After our noon flight from Puerto Princesa to Cebu city, we headed to the north of Cebu island by bus, a three hour trip that brought us to the little port of Hagnaya where the ferry to Bantayan Island leaves. A lunch consisting of barbequed chicken and San Miguel gave us the energy needed for the one and a half hour boat trip to Santa Fe on Bantanyan Island. Immediately after arrival brochures off all kinds were stuffed in our faces, displaying accomodation ranging from 4 star resorts for unaffordable prices to beach bungalows that were more in line with our budget. Some Norwegian I talked to on the boat had already given me the thumbs up about Budyong beach, so when the the guy charged with dragging tourists to this place, we hopped on the ... read more

So the bus to Iloilo was a bumpy but interesting experience! When we finally arrived we jumped in the cloest taxi we could find and headed to our hotel, The Fine Rock. First impressions of Iloilo were dissapointing, we had expected a nice town centre but couldn't find a town centre anywhere it seemed to be just roads, roads and more roads. Not to worry we were looking forward to the nice hotel we had been recommended! On arriving at Fine Rock we felt quite confident the hotel was ok and thought what the hell, lets opt for a suite (it was only a pound more)! We were dreaming of fluffy pillows and a view of the harbour, oh how wrong we were. The "suite" would have been better described as a cell, no windows (not ... read more
