So the bus to Iloilo was a bumpy but interesting experience! When we finally arrived we jumped in the cloest taxi we could find and headed to our hotel, The Fine Rock. First impressions of Iloilo were dissapointing, we had expected a nice town centre but couldn't find a town centre anywhere it seemed to be just roads, roads and more roads. Not to worry we were looking forward to the nice hotel we had been recommended!
On arriving at Fine Rock we felt quite confident the hotel was ok and thought what the hell, lets opt for a suite (it was only a pound more)! We were dreaming of fluffy pillows and a view of the harbour, oh how wrong we were. The "suite" would have been better described as a cell, no windows (not even any bars to look out off. We quickly dropped the "Fine" part of the hotel name which became The Rock, or Alcatraz haha! Anyway we decided to head by taxi to a shopping mall which was quite nice and with little else to do we spent the rest of the day wandering around the shops and even went to the Cinema.

Tambuli Beach Club decided to get the first plane out of Iloilo the next morning and we were lucky that there was one at 9.05. After a night without much sleap, due to the noisy aircon unit in our cell and maja's stomach problems we got a taxi to the airport. When we jumped in and the driver turned the meter off we thought we were in for an eventful ride! He turned it on at our insistance and then off again half way to the airport, again we made him turn it back on! On arrival at the airport he tried to overcharge us double what we'd added the two meter readings upto but he was no match for an ill, tired and grumpy Maja haha. We paid him what we thought was right and off he went. All in all our short time in Iloilo sucked and made us opt for more beach life instead of staying in the cities!
Anyway the flight was only half an hour to Cebu, which is affectionatly known here at the Queen of the South, the Philippines second largest city. On arrival the tourist desk at the airport was well stocked with local hotel
details and after a short (very short) conversation we decided to stay at the beach on Mactan Island instead of in the city itself. We're having a really relaxing time here at the Tambuli East Beach Resort which is a lare gated resort on the beach. We're pretty much the only people here except for a few Korean and Chinese Tourists and have our own tropical paradise by the pool whcih is lovely!
A Swedish couple we met in Boracay recommended a resort but we discovered at the airport that this was a little out of our price range. We were pleased to see that this resort was next door to ours so last night we went there. Wow, what a hotel resort this one turned out to be, we've never seen one as luxorious!
After quickly becoming bored being on our own in each of our resorts 4-5 bars and restaurants we decided to go next door for a look. We had to tell the security guard we were making a reservation to let us in and we ended up staying all night and having dinner with our own 6 piece guitar band, it was 5 star
food (which we did pay for!), surroundings and entertainement. Not bad for 30 quid a room and a short walk next door haha. We're employig the same tactics tonight and hope the security guard has changed 😊
As always hope your all well! We'll try to get the pictures up when we can. Supercat ferry to Bohol tomorrow....
Love Maja and Steve x

Hi, I hope you have recovered from your stomach problems and cold? Are you staying just for 2 days in Cebu? If yes, what will be the next place to visit and where are you staying during Christmas and New Year? In Uppsala it is still warm and now snow at all. We got a photo from Ö-vik this weekend from Lisa and Berndt, they were out cross country skiing and the trees in the forest were covered with snow. That’s the way it should be at this time of the year. This week is loaded with Christmas dinners at work, Erik went out yesterday evening to see Henrik Schyfert. Thursday our department will have a 3 hour curling course will be challenging experience. However, have a nice week, speak to you soon. Lots of Love Kristina.
