ma13.12.

Två veckor i paradiset Hej igen allesammans!

After a day and a half of food poisoning in Cebu city, we were hoping that the bus journey over the hills of Cebu wouldn’t be too arduous on our stomachs or bowels! As it was, the bus journey was ok…apart from the signs saying ‘Slow down, accident prone area’ which gave the driver the impression that he should speed up and drive like a complete maniac. The warp speed we went on the winding roads (with some sheer drop offs too we might add) and the few near misses with other buses well and truly kept our mind off the possibility of the food poisoning coming back to haunt us! Three hours later we arrived in Moalboal town, although quite why the 89km journey took so long with the warp speed we reached we will ... read more

We found inspiration and kindness with Naomi and Tito, at their homestead bottle museum. As soon as we arrived they invited us to sit at their kitchen table and begun sharing stories about Filipino culture and lifestyle, travel routes within the Visayas Islands, gave us each “scrolls of wisdom” written by Naomi herself, the reputation that the museum is built on, and provided us with fresh herbs and “kamunggay” seeds (a ‘heal-all’ plant) from their incredible garden. As we were leaving, Naomi declared that she was adopting us as her “Canadian daughters”, and gave us each a hug. We left the museum filled with love! ... read more

Two plane rides and a 4 hour taxi later, we arrived at Rosita's Cottages ($5 each/day) in Moalboal, along the southwest coast of Cebu island, Panagsama beach. The friendliness of Romano, our new landlord, was overwhemling, as he literally showed us everything about our place, including the kitchen sink. Our new found celeberty status from this warm community would make any traveller fall in love with Moalboal. Everyone is extremely willing to help, and is gentle enough to laugh with us at our cultural differences. Our first day was spent traveling 'to' and 'from' the local market via Romano's motorbike ($4/day), snorkeling the most encredibly diverse, and beautiful reef we've ever laid our masks on. Not to mention it's 10m from our cottage door. Snorkel highlights: sea snake, 2 sea turtles, star fish, pipe fish, and ... read more

While I’m writing this, the first thing that came up from my mind was I’m very thankful that GOD is so great to me. He gave me the chance to see and realize how worthy and valuable my everyday life is… He allowed me to come back with a refined purpose of which I could go in pursuit of… and he enabled me to see the bigger picture of life, that we should not take everyone and everything for granted because all the things in this world has a contribution of what and who are we in the present. It was August 31, 2010 at 1:50 PM when the unexpected had happened. It was my last day at CEBU, so my itinerary for that day is work. I’m a Travel Organizer so my job is ... read more
