Jaahas, huomenna kaks viikkoa Anjunan aurinkoa takana. Hiki valuu valuu jatkuvalla syotolla, joten nestetasapainoa on tullut pidettya ylla oikein huolella... Vanhoja ja uusia hippeja, reppureissaajia, tuijottavia paikallisia, kaupustelijoita, kaarmeita, rottia, liskoja, apinoita, rapuja, sammakoita, moskiittoja, sikoja, kanoja, kukkoja, villisikoja ja tottakai lehmia. Paahtavaa aurinkoa, vilvoittavaa merituulta, kookospalmuja, kylmaa olutta ja kajahtavaa paasiota. Kamppani on pohjois-Anjunassa, n. 16 neliota, varustettu sahkolla, tuulettimella, lansimaisella wc:lla ja suihkulla. Ihan mukiinmeneva. Uusia tuttavuuksia on tullut aikamoinen liuta. Suomalaisiakin ... read more

Feels like an age since I last wrote - it is in fact 4 days. Am definitely starting to lose track of days and time - which was all part of the plan. So it's working.... Mumbai visit was great - had a great time in the city. Took myself to the swanky Taj Mahal Palace hotel on Saturday evening to treat myself to a glass of champagne - just for a treat really (you can take the girl out of islington....). Bought myself a pair of jeans so looked fairly smart and sat at the bar drinking veuve cliquot having a rare time to myself - met an english couple over for a wedding in Goa - and got quite merry on 3 glasses of fizz - which was not really in the budget plan. ... read more

Due to the numerous bombings, rioting, protesting, and general pockets of unrest in India, they take various precautions. Every time you check into a hotel, you have to divulge various information. Passport and personal info, visa number, last travel destination, and the next travel destination. All of this info gets submitted to the police. Goa is a state on the west coast of India. It was once conquered by the Portugese, so you can find many Catholics here. Of course, the Catholic has a distinct Hindi flavor. Goa is a beach paradise, lined with tall palms, and a shoreline that ranges from soft red sand to rocky black cliffs. It is also a big party place, where many Europeans and Israelis spend many weeks, and where Indians go on their honeymoon. We stayed at Victor's guesthouse, ... read more

Well i surrived my 13 hours train journey down the coast, it ended up being really quite ok, i was in an AC cabin and had a lower birth to my self. Tara had insisted that i go all the way down to madgaon , and then get a taxi all the way up the coast again to Baga, but instead i just go off the train early and managed to get a motercycle taxi to take me into town He had no problem with balancing my rucksack on his handel bars!!! and having me on the back on the high-way. Baga is very bussy with lots of places to eat, sleep, and going out to, they have an ok beach, but it is quite over crowed and you get hasseled alot by everyone trying to ... read more

The lonely planet mentioned something about the days of Anjuna being the place to see and be seen as long passed. That was a couple of years ago now, and I think it's even more apt a description today, especially towards the end of the season. My first impression was that there were parties going on everywhere - I could here Goan trance music coming fom all directions in the distance and at first I thought that the daytime raves and parties that were in my book still existed. I soon realised however that the source of this music was not a proliferation of parties, but rather of restaurants and shops each competing for valuable air space in order to entice the various passers-by into their premises. Most nights there wasn't much activity past 9pm, ... read more

So with the intention of staying at least a few more days in Palolem I got up late and strolled down for some lunch with Dani and the guys when on talking it was mentioned that some f the people we had met the previous evening were heading up to north Goa to go to an all night rave so James, Paul and I decided to join Dani (who was going to meet her family and boyfriend who were flying in) and get a taxi to Calangute. After refusing to pay 1400Rs for a car we jumped on a bus to Margao, changing a Panjim and then took a car from there to Calangute. The local buses for me are the best way to travel India, you also eat where they eat, listen to their conversations/music ... read more

Only 3 more days until I leave on my latest holiday, really, honestly can't wait. Not looking forward to the trip though because I've got 6hour, 1hour and 8hour waits between the different legs of my journey in London, Paris and Mumbai respectively. Hopefully I'll be able to find a place with a Wi-Fi hook up and then I'll be fine. I'd love to be able to sleep with all these waits but I know from experience that that's just not an option. I can't sleep properly unless I'm either really comfortable or really, really tired. Point in case its 11:20 am and I've been awake for around 36 hours now, probably 34 of those browsing rubbish on my laptop! I've decided (probably against better judgement) to take my laptop with me this time, I ... read more
