August 20 Festivities

Special Dragon Parade outside our house. It started with the loudest strings of firecrackers. I'm sure they were taking great care lighting the fireworks on the ground, but not so safe when they're exploding right in front of your fifth story window. Anyway, when we got down to see what all the commotion was about, we were pleasantly surprised by a very traditional and authentic dragon parade. The "dragon" would circle around, each time stopping at a different apartment entrance and bow several times. The people at the door would splash water and put candy or money in its mouth. It was a great experience. These ladies are pretty amazing. They were at it for several hours during the hottest part of the day, and then again in the evening. Amazing!
