Join the 4 Year International Teacher Training in "DNS" in Tvind:
Det Nødvendige Seminarium (DNS) is a private teacher training college with a
learning-by-doing approach. It was founded in 1972 and has since graduated
more than 600 teachers. Most of them are now working in state or private
schools in Europe, teaching in primary and secondary or working as teachers
or development managers in Africa or USA.
1st Year: The International Field of Practice: Your education begins in the world.
Prospective teachers need to know about the world, in all its beauty, but in its ugliness as well. They should feel at home anywhere on this planet. They should feel connected to all types of
people living in the world: the poor ones and the rich ones, the growing
number of people belonging to the middle class, the Muslims, the Hindus, the
Christians, the Atheists, the Africans, the Asians....
2nd Year: School Field of Practice: This year we focus on the school and on the social conditions provided
for children and youngsters in Denmark. We learn the skills of a teacher through a vital mix of hands-on teaching practice and academic studies. 11 months of teaching practice in different small, private schools and care homes in Denmark as teachers with partial or full responsibility for a class and/or a group of students in after-school activities.....
3rd Year: Your Masterpiece as a teacher:
This year we focus on studying important subjects of our time. We are "rethinking Globalization" and making renewable energy projects as well as growing vegetables. A 2-months “Do-what-you-find-right-to-do” period included. At the end of 3rd year you do your final teaching practice project. You Masterpiece as a teacher.
4th Year: Contributing to Development of Education in Africa + Graduation: The period takes place in Africa where you carry out the work of a teacher in an African teacher training college inspired by the DNS-education. The DNS-student uses all his experiences to enrich the education of rural teachers in Mozambique, Angola and Malawi and give them the best of the landmarks won in Europe regarding educational methods, students centered learning, a holistic approach to the children etc
After 6 months in Africa your team spend the last 6 month of the education studying the last Major Subjects and writing the Bachelor Thesis.

3. Invitation to join us for a preparatory meeting here at DNS. Here you will have the opportunity to meet teachers and students at the college and try the life at the DNS college and Tvind School Centre as a community of around 120 people living together.
