At first that might sound lame, but to be honest, it was gorgeous! Waking up on the 7th, there are many things entering my mind. One... my boss is leaving today and two... my birthday, this had better be an epic day. I open up the curtains in my stateroom and see a Greenpeace ship moored right in front of our ship. Okay, so random tangent here. I'm not necessarily opposed to what they stand for (except in a couple cases, like the nuclear stuff that they're ignorant about), their methods can just be pretty scary to me. Why bother hurting people when you're trying to promote peace. Furthermore, graffiti certainly isn't eco-friendly, but who am I to judge? Anyway, it's a teeny tiny ship, thinking about getting a tour possibly. I suppose I shouldn't wear ... read more

Arrived this morning to Apia....coming from very hot hot place to hot and humid place again...but thinking about seasons....love it. Love this kind of weather. Anyway...I think I am privileged by having an opportunity of travelling around OCEANIA and visiting beautiful places. Arrived to Apia this morning and staying at beautiful resort, called Aggy Greys. It was my friends recommendation. They were right, its stunning, little heaven.... read more

NOOOOoooo... this doesn't mean I'm mad a Jeremy. Roger and Hammerstein's musical South Pacific is the only exposure to what kind of adventure I'm in for with Pacific Partnership 2009. I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair is a song from that movie. :) What were you guys thinking?!? We anchored outside of Apia, Samoa on June 30th. What began as a fuzzy little speck of land transformed itself into a island with lots of green and even more waves and blue reef. But, before I get into that, here’s some things about the transit to Samoa: Pacific Partnership 2009 is now in full effect, with numerous temporary riders on board, from many different disciplines, it’s time to see if we can work together! We have Navy Construction Batallions (Seabees), dentists, doctors, veterinarians, ... read more

From Easter Island, the next stop was westward across the Pacific to Samoa for a quick overnight stop. This was just a place to crash for the night to break up the trip to Australia. The jet landed at 1am EST, which is the time zone used in Easter Island, but we had to set our clocks back 6 hours. So in Samoa it was only 7pm. We were served our second dinner of the night and watched a show. I have to hand it to this bunch of world travellers, they stayed up to watch the show. It was a bunch of warrior-type Samoan guys banging around the stage and twirling fire; that kind of thing. The next morning, because of the time change, everyone was up at around 4 am. For the first time ... read more

This is the place for another pin in the map. A little dot in the middle of hundreds of miles of the Pacific Ocean. It is most famous as the place where the famous author, Robert Louis Stevenson lived for the last 5 years of his life. He authored the book, Treasure Island. He moved here late in life because he had tuberculosis and felt the climate would be favorable. He and his wife died here and are buried here. His house is now a museum and is one of the main tourist attractions. That alone should give you an idea of how little of importance there is to see in Samoa. We arrived here at noon and leave again at 6:00 P.M. We are now 6 hours behind you time wise, so when we leave ... read more

Ich ... read more

Feels like a long time since the last blog, probably because it is...just been to lazy to do any major updating, and the lack of fast internet doesn't help either. Most importantly, the world trip has continued after the extended break in Australia, I finally made it to Fiji and Samoa, and there's been some important stuff happening for me personally. Where to start? Fiji was pretty lovely, we had an amazing time on three of the Yasawa islands, splurging a bit too much, considering our tight budget. But there's just no cheap accomodation in Fiji, the prices are a shitload higher than in any European country. At least, we got to stay in a real Fijian village with the locals for a couple of days, which was a great experience, despite getting eaten alive by ... read more
