Cyprus holds an unusual geographic position located between Europe, Asia and Africa. This creates an interesting blend of cultural experiences. The excellent weather, friendly people and varied vistas make this a family-friendly and couple-friendly destination.

Here are three things to do while on vacation in Cyprus.

Trekking, Camping or Cycling

The westerly area surrounding the Troodos mountains are well known to frequent visitors to Cyprus. It provides copious hiking trials to stretch the legs and see the sights. There’s a number of camping options already set up at strategic points around the base of the mountains to stop for the night before continuing on the next day. For avid cyclists, it’s possible to rent a decent bicycle and take off on a designated route. There are different routes depending on the athleticism of the rider.

Suitable for walking in the spring and summertime enjoying the verdant landscape, the mountains become snow-capped as the temperature drops near the end of the year. The Troodos area is conveniently located within an hour by vehicle from any city on Cyprus.

Living It Up in a Villa

A great example of Cyprus luxury villas is provider The Villa Group who have an amazing selection of luxurious properties. They are suitable for large groups or a couple that enjoy every comfort and a good degree of privacy. Operating since 1989, the Villa Group now has 400+ villas and apartments to stay in Limassol, Famagusta, Larnaca or the District of Paphos.

Many of the villas come with a heated swimming pool for use late in the season. The properties tend to be more secluded offering a high degree of privacy for guests. Local stores aren’t far away – renting a scooter or a car isn’t a bad idea to get around the island. The views at sunset are tranquil and worth the trip just for that.

Embracing the Water

There are several water parks in Cyprus. The most respected one is possibly Fasouri Watermania water park. It is situated within orange fields over in Limassol. The entire water park is designed around a juicing theme, so rides tend to use vibrant colours and fruit-inspired designs to keep the young kids smiling. The activities are divided between water slides, rides and other things that involve water.

The park is smaller than a place like Disneyworld. One advantage to this is that there’s not far to walk between rides. You can fit in more rides and even try out those with fun names like Wet Bubble Big Orange, Tarzan Swing and the Kamikaze Slide!

When you get tired of the rides and need a rest, there are several restaurants to grab a bite to eat or a drink. Lastly, no trip to the island of Cyprus would be complete without a visit to the Kourion Ruins. Set in an old city, it even boasts a Greco-Roman theatre. The theatre has been restored recently and theatre groups now put on live performances there, a real treat for visitors who time their visit well.

Don’t miss out on seeing Cyprus for yourself. It’s a real gem in the heart of the Mediterr
