MYYYY LAAAAAASSSSTTTTTT DAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soooo I headed back to Diala's house for my last night...tear! Apparently Wednesday nights are dead in Amman so we didn't last long and just headed back home to eat pita and lebanah! (this amazing cheese-like yogurt) It was perfect though because we had to wake up at 6am this morning to catch a ride to PETRAAAA!!!! (yes yes, the lost ancient temple in the 3rd Indiana Jones haha)
Petra was amazing!!! THE SECOND WONDER OF THE WORLD!!! Took a few hours to get there but totally worth it! We hiked through the rock to finally get to one of the ancient temples of the 12 kings from back in the day. It was the only house of the 12 kings that got finished and took about 6 years with 20,000 workers..unbelieveable! If you look closely at the detail of the front, the individual designs represent the calendar year and some Greek influence from the invasion of the Romans like the column style. It's amazing to look at and we're so lucky it has stayed so well preserved--it is built into the rock side so it's shielded from the rain and the sun only hits it for one hour of the day while the wind blows on the opposite side of the rock. A recent discovery has been the finding that what you see is, in fact, not the actual ground level...there is one more which is hidden from the build up of sediment from the years. There's an entirely different door below with more columns...INSANE!-So there are apparently three levels instead of two. We wandered through part of the city for the rest of our time in Petra and it's just sooo amazing how everything is built out of what was given..a mountain and that's about it.

We had to quickly get back to Amman to get ready for a Jordanian wedding!! (and i had to pack to go home...booo) The wedding was a thrill!--Arabic dancing and music! The groom comes out with a huge train of men from the wedding party with dancers all around him, they dance on stage and everyone claps, and then the bride comes out with a huge wedding party of women and is met by the groom! Everyone looks gorgeous and the whole scene is sooo exciting! What an experience...
Unfortunately, I couldn't change my flight to later and I could only stay for an hour and half because I had to wisk away to the airport to return home...
awwwww i was so sad and still am...I didn't want to leave at all!!! gaaaa I feel like I still have so much to see and do around here...oh traveling! 😊
But my experience has been amazing and such an eye-opener and any other adjective to describe something soooo out of this world, different and fantastic...don't even know how to put words to it! But Jordan is truly amazing and I hope you get to see what a great place it is someday. Absolutely friendly and charismatic people, incredible food, and breath-taking views...HOW CAN YOU MISS OUT!??! GO THERE IMMEDIATELY!

***Please don't let the media get the best of you...

As a side note, one of Diala's best buddies is in the Olympics for ping pong or should I say table tennis? She was the one who got to hold the Jordanian flag for the opening ceremonies and you probably saw her! SO FUN! haha She said the flag was heavy! too cute! But cross your fingers and look out for her! ZEINA!!

So, THANK YOU

THANK YOU for reading this blog! So fun to keep this and share all the photos and stories with you!!! I hope this inspires you to visit these remarkable places packed full of history and extraordinary people and defy the common (sadly) scared voice of what one just does not entirely know. There are risks in life and I dare you to take them. I wouldn't even say visiting Jordan was a risk-taking event because it really wasn't...My experience in Jordan was an unforgettable and invigorating one!!!

CAN I GO BAACK NOW?!?!?!!!!! 😊

love
