I'm thinking of something that could really happen?

I thought before I started travelling that I'd get a flash of inspiration mid-travel and just work at making it happen.

Well it didn't happen :( - I found things I really liked - Scuba Diving - is amazing - could be an instructor, and photography I really enjoy - so my dream job would be a combination of these two.

Though I can't complain about my job atm - freelance web guy is great - lots of flexibility, downside - I like being outside and being a little more active.

Hmmmm ... maybe live travelling beamed across the net, live cams I have attached to my luggage, my hat, my day pack etc, beaming 24/7 on the web ... and getting paid for it ... lol!;o)

or

Get people to vote on where I should go, then have a camera beaming live on the net, and people can vote on what I should do ... you know, i give them an option of getting me to climb the local mountain, go to the local club, go fishing, or just chill all day ... and then when they get bored of whatever country/town I am in they can vote on where i should go next ... and get paid for it!!

Yeah baby yeah!!

10 years and it will be happening I'm sure ;)

I don't think I'd do it though - there are definetly things I keep to myself - and wouldn't want it any other way...

I'd like to be a lecturer in something that really interests me, anthropology, or international relations. However, getting an MA is extremely challenging and hard work - but it's what I'm ultimately aiming for.

The time off and money is obviously a huge factor also!

I'ld like to make documentaries about all the cultures across the world but don't how to get into the industry

I don't either - but the best way to impress someone how could be responsible for hiring you to do this is to build up a portfolio. In this case - start making documentaries about topics that interest you closer to home. Use a digi-cam and a PC - and just get started - it will show anyone that your serious and you'll learn loads as well.

Be a Discovery Channel Travel Host, tour around the world for free and yet getting paid for it. Saves me a lot from spending money in travelling plus the celebrity status quo in hosting a travel show. Ain't that cool?

I used to think the best job ever would be "The Keeper of the Cup." That's the person who wears white gloves and chaperones the Stanley Cup, the holy grail of north american ice hockey, all around the world. Of course being Canadian, I might be a bit biased about the appeal of this job...

But my true dream job would be as a storyteller--seeking out inspiring stories about people and places, and sharing them. My preferred medium is probably a combination of pen and photo.

Of course being a geophysicist is pretty cool too.

I'm getting old... my idea of the perfect job now would be:

Husband, Provider, Daddy.

One day... on day.

hahahah... funny guy! I'm trying to plant the bug with my girlfriends 5 year old. I just bought him his first piggy bank, it's actually a globe. Showed him where we were, where I'm from, where I'm going... etc. Also bought him a 3'x4' floor jigsaw puzzle of the United States. So I sat down with him and tried to teach him what States are, and where everything is. ;-)

Probably a freelance writer who actually makes really good money (what i mean by really good money is an amount that can support your every day life needs), traveling where ever along with a trusty laptop.

Market Research Analyst? As defined, sounds much like TravelBlog. Dream job . . . hmmmmm---Something that involves lots of reading, not much editing (none-really), commenting, no set schedule, and good pay. Alas, "dream" was the key word.

For me I have my dream job. Consulting in the travel industry - product development, marketing, etc. I have worked all over Asia , South Pacific, North America. I love helping small communities make the transition from dying industries into tourism development. (and not the tacky kind!)

all of these are great, but just being able to wake up in the morning, and do whatever you feel like w/ out having to worry about the money/current job.
so.....i guess just being filthy rich, but until then i'll maintain. I thinking about joining the Peace Corps. Any input on that?

Once while in Nairobi I was at a the US foreign ex-pat party for the 4th of July and a bunch of Peace Corps employees straggled in looking half alive and near starvation. They told me all about the village they were assigned to, how it had no water and they were never sent their rations or other supplies and were essentially forgotton. Then they practically dove at the Burger and Dog table . . . .so whenever one of my friends decides they are going to have some great experience with the Peace Corps I tell that story. Maybe you could have a better experience :)
