Hello Fotopraktica 😊

This is probably the cheapest hostel in London and central too. Or at least it was a few months ago when I last checked.
I am not sure if they have private rooms but it should list them on this link if they do.

Hi Mel ,
Thanks for the reply ,i checked out the link you provided for piccadilly hostel ,and it is a good location and not very far from Heathrow (30-40 mins )which is important because i just have an overnight layover so getting to and from the airport easily is crucial .
i checked out some reviews on for Piccadilly on hostelworld.com and they were not too great ,everyone agreed the location was a bonus ,but the cleanliness and attitude of the staff left much to be desired ,i've stayed in some pretty dirty hotels all over Eastern Europe so i'm used to roughing it ,i am a little concerned about security and i read it had a score of about 52% from people who stayed there ,i will certainly think about it (mainly because of location)but i will also look around but piccadilly is a ideal for what i want .
Thanks

U can also google Hostels, London and a list of them will come up. There are other centrally located ones with good prices.
U can also book them on the internet.

I didnt stay there yet Jarkko. Somebody on another travel site recommended it as the cheapest place to stay in London so I stuck it in my file of travel information for the next time I am in London. I generally choose places to stay for their low prices and central location rather then their standard of security and cleanliness.

Security is paramount for me because having your bags stolen on your trip can turn your holiday into a nightmare ,i don't trust strangers no matter how friendly they seem call it my built -in security system i'd rather be paranoid about theft than be naive .I stayed at a hostel in Budapest where they had no luggage storage ,they guy at the reception desk just said "just leave your bags in the room nobody will steal it " i gasped and said "you're kidding right" ,he looked stunned and so i replied "if my bags are stolen then you are personally responsible correct" ..then he hesitated and didn't seem so confident anymore and told me well you can put your bags in the "storage closet and it has a lock'' ,i said why didn't you offer this before sarcastically ,if looks could kill i would be dead on the floor i'm sure of it😊
The cleanliness ..hmmm..i can tough that one out as i stated before .
Piccadilly is ideal location ,but for what they are charging and the conditions i can probably find something more affordable there are tons of hostels in London so i will keep looking 😉
Thanks

I just dont take anything valuable with me when I travel Jakko. :D I travel very light.
Yeah, there were plenty of affordable ones on the list when I googled. If u are planning to use public transport to get around then any near a tube stop will do. Preferable one on the tube line to Heathrow(presuming that is the airport u are flying into) but any tube stop is good for getting to and from the airport quite quickly and easily. Since u have to get from the airport anyway then maybe a day pass to cover all zones is the most economial choice. London Underground probably have a map of the underground and a price list for their tickets on the internet.

Hey c'mon now i don't take everything but the kitchen sink when i travel LOL..i am not a light traveller like you are but i do take my VERY big Samsonite suitcase with me ,not because i need to take alot of stuff for my holiday ,the extra room is to bring back alot of stuff i buy on my travels nd i take my camera bag with me it is a little bigger than a laptop bag ,i carry all of my camera gear inside .
Well everything i take with me is valuable from my toothbrush to socks to my passport ,because what is in my bag is what i will need from however long i am out of the country so i guard it with my life .
I've found a few good places in the center of London that i can get to using the Heathrow express train from the new terminal 5 and connect on one metro (tube) stop ,but i also found a couple of cheap hotels near the airport (2-3 KM) that are going for about $62-$71 CDN a night ,but the con is it will take longer using public transportation to get to London and back ,but i will take my time in choosing a place i'm leaving to Heathrow on May/29 from so i don't feel any urgency to book a room right away .
I've had good luck so far for my trip i booked a private room in Prague for four nights for $145 CDN and a private flat in Chisinau ,Moldova for five nights for $120 CDN !!!!!so i think i have lady luck riding on my side 😊)))
I found the London tube website ,and the Heathrow express too so i know exactly how much it will cost me so i think i have budgeted this trip out pretty good .
BTW when are you going to London

I dont know yet when I am next going to London. It could happen any time. Depends on flight prices. When there are bargains and I have enough travel savings I buy.
I lived in London for a year and I used to have a boyfriend there for a while so went there every month for a period of 4 years. I love it there.

Well the best time to get cheap seat sales for London or anywhere in Europe are in the fall/winter/spring ,i am leaving on May/29 on British airways if i would leave just a few days later in early June the price goes up about $400 CDN for the return ticket because the start of the summer travel season starts so the demand is greater .The winter is probably the cheapest time to go anywhere i find ?

You used to go to London once a month over four years ..geez ..how did you afford that do you live in Europe or North America ?
I was in a long distance relationship once too they are tough ,i don't how people do them ?

Yeah, I would not want to be in a long distance relationship again.
The boyfriend I had at the time payed for most of my flights. I wouldnt have been able to afford so many of them. I was living in Dublin at the time.

I've stayed at Piccadilly hostel before, the only good thing about it is the location, however , there is security on a the door checking everyones card, at lest when I was there they did, that was in September/Oct 07. The staff are only ok, the rooms are not that great, i had a pod bed which was pretty cool , the one thing I did like about it. The bathrooms/showers were really old, no where to hang cloths. This time when I go back I'm staying at Journey Waterloo, it seems to have excellent reviews, so I shall see what its like! Reply to this
