Is Geneva a good place to travel for two girls in their 20s for ten days in March?
A friend and I (in our early 20s) are traveling to Europe for 10 days in early March and are thinking about Geneva. We're not sure if there will be much to do for young people and if the weather will be prohibitively cold and rainy. Maybe Barcelona or Prague might be a better choice? Any suggestions?
Reply to this Hi....
Hard to guess what do you expect...
Geneva is a bit posh, and the swiss not really a partying type...
But hop over the border, to France...
Take a look at the Mont Blanc...
Grenoble (town of winter olimpicis) a university town with a good life.
In the Alps there is still some snow in early March, so can have some skiing near by.
And ... what can be more fun on a cold and rainy day than a hot spa ? Getting some relax after or before a night out ?
To get an idea, here is some skiing and spaing links:

Reply to this ¡Hola!
I think, 10 days are too much for Geneva. Where are you from? Could we get some more infos about your trip? Where you´ll be arriving in Europe? I´d have some suggestions but need therefore more details! Pls email to rtw-2007@freemail.hu or post your comments here!
Cheers,
Sorry
Reply to this Thanks all for the comments. I'm from New York. We're arriving sometime in the first week of March, depending on when tickets are cheapest. We were thinking about flying to London, spending a couple of days there, and then flying to another city for 7 days or so. Would this be a good plan for Prague? If we decide on Barcelona, I think it'd be easiest to fly there directly; I've heard there is plenty to do for 10 days.
A few questions:
1. Is there enough to do in Prague for 7-10 days? Are there young people visiting? Would it make sense to spend a few days in London and then go to Prague?
2. For Barcelona - my friend doesn't like dance music. Will we be able to enjoy the nightlife without going to discos?
Reply to this We just returned from Switzerland and Geneva is nice, but as other's have said not great for young people.
I would recommend Interlaken and the Jungfrau.
Gorgeous!
Reply to this the Swiss can party, you just need to go to the right city, I'm from Switzerland. Zurich is a big party city and you can find everyhing there. 7-10 days Geneva is too much and a shame, in 7 days you can travel around the beautiful Switzerland. Is funny that all tourists go to Interlaken, but never to the big cities like Zurich or Lausanne...these are beautiful as well. :-)
Reply to this Switzerland is an amazing country! There is a lot to see and do, you just have to know where to go and what to see. Switzerland is also very safe which is important when it is just the two of you traveling alone.
I wish the best of luck! If you want to see if there are any festivals or events taking place on the months you are there then go to www.myswitzerland.com and look under the events section, this is the official website for Swiss tourism.
I promise you will be extremely happy you chose Switzerland, its an incredible country! Reply to this We have been to all the places you first mentioned. I spent two summers in Geneva and found that was too much. A couple of days now and I'm ready to move on. Switzerland has a great deal to offer so don't miss it. If you are in Geneva a couple of days consider taking one of the lake cruises. Make it a round trip with a sunset dinner. The ride is smooth, it is slow and you are completely "out of the rat race". Get reservations in downtown Geneva on the lake. Make sure you take a "Paddle Steamer" boat. Prices are high in Geneva. Lots of government officials at ILO.
