We are a funloving couple planning to leave it all for a while and backpackpack/camp throughout Europe starting in April. We will be there for at least 3 months and are looking to get married! We have the Eurorail global pass so we have alot of options, thats where we need your help! everyone we ask tend to give us very "general" answers, "it all depends on what you like" or "its all beautiful". So heres a short survey to help get more of a personal answer.. Thanks for helping us out.

Whats your age group?

Whats your favorite (Europe) country?

City within that country?

What makes it stick out above all others?

What country did you enjoy least? Why?

What hostel/campsite was the best?

Favorite bar/pub/club?

If you were to get married (again) where would it be?

Whats that one thing/place/event that stands above all others?

Any other comments:

Thanks alot for your help! your suggestions will be valued!

Ciao Thai and Shelbi, We are australians and have always travelled, dragging our beautiful son with us. Our favorite city is Lucca in Tuscany. We have even recently published a portal for it experiencelucca.com it's tranquil, romantic, you could find a house stay (room in a local's house) that is relatively cheap - and warmer in the winter months. I believe there is a wedding planner here too. Check out our site and you can email for any info on the city. We are in love with this place!! Hope this helps Reply to this

Sorry but can't give just ONE answer in many of these categories (apart from age group!)

Whats your age group?

i'm 32

Whats your favorite (Europe) country?

Spain/Italy

City within that country?

Spain - Madrid
Italy - Rome, Naples, Taormina

What makes it stick out above all others?

Madrid - Food, drink
Rome - food, history/sights,
Naples - edginess, passion, pizza
Taormina - beauty, chic, atmosphere, food

What country did you enjoy least? Why?

Norway. Soulless. EXPENSIVE.

What hostel/campsite was the best?

never stayed in either. for cheap accomodation in Madrid - Hostal Lopez on Calle Huertas (?)

Favorite bar/pub/club?

Madrid - El Brillante near Atocha station for tapas, bocadillos de calamares. El Gaucho near El Corte Ingles for Argentinian chorizo, steak, grilled provolone. You really can't go wrong here though.
Rome - too many to mention
Naples - Da Michele - worlds greatest and most authentic pizza for about £3.
Taormina - Cafe Mocambo. Not cheap but ordering a drink and sitting people watching on taormina's main square (Piazza 9 Aprile) is worth any amount of money.

If you were to get married (again) where would it be?

We got married in Positano, Italy - it was wonderful.
Would also reccommend somewhere like Taormina.
Friends of ours married in Santorini, (Greek Island) this summer which was gorgeous.

Whats that one thing/place/event that stands above all others?

Asking my (now) wife to marry me at the railing in Piazza 9 Aprile in Taormina, Sicily overlooking the sea and Mt Etna in the background.

Any other comments:

Take your time.
Wherever we go we see people (usually Americans) rushing about having to see and take photographs of EVERYTHING.
Sacrifice certain experiences to make the most of others. If you like something, savour it.

Whats your favorite (Europe) country? Living in France atm so it's AMAZING, but I've visited the Czech Republic, so beautiful.

City within that country? Prague

What makes it stick out above all others? lots of beautiful buildings everywhere, great food, although a little heavy, drinks are pretty cheap adn you can find good eateries and bars everywhere. Tonnes of churches 'city of 100 spires' music concerts on eveyr night in churches. Fabulous! (also if u like swarofski .. crystals this is where they're from!)

What country did you enjoy least? Why? Haven't disliked any yet!

What hostel/campsite was the best? Wombats the Lounge in Vienna is an AMAZING! hostel, newly refurnished, jsut stayed there with a friend last week, the ppl on the front desk are really helpful and have tonnes of advice on things to go, they have there own bar, and a wide age range, 19/23yros chatting with 35yros ect.

Favorite bar/pub/club?

If you were to get married (again) where would it be?.. havent done that yet!

Whats that one thing/place/event that stands above all others? Go to the Loire Valley in France, the chateaus (castles) are amazing! So many in such close proximity!

Any other comments: if you want to visit a quaint french town, take teh train from paris, gare de lyon to Dijon Ville, its got a great old city centre and old brickwork and flags everywhere!

good luck and have fun! Reply to this

Whats your age group? - 50 and don't laugh, we still enjoy life and traveling!
Whats your favorite (Europe) country? - Greece with its islands, especially Crete. People are very friendly, hospitable and eager to help; Spain with its Canarian islands (We've only been in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera)
City within that country? - Athens/Greece; Las Palmas, Arucas, Firgas in Grancanaria; Puerto de la Cruz, Los Cristianos in Tenerife and many, many others.
What makes it stick out above all others? - Athens - for Akropolis; the other cities mentioned - for instance Los Cristianos is a resort, not a city, lots of restaurants, bars, night life, gorgeous hotels and vilas; Arucas and Firgas are small towns, nice, clean, following the old tradition
What country did you enjoy least? Why? - Haven't disliked any yet!
What hostel/campsite was the best? - haven't stayed in any, just hotels and vilas.
If you were to get married (again) where would it be?.. in Santorini/Greece. Haven't been there yet, we'll go in April, but from what I've seen and heard it is a dreamy island
Whats that one thing/place/event that stands above all others? - go in Tenerife and see El Teide Peak (3.555m) and El Teide National Park either at sunrise or at sunset. It is spectacular!
Any other comments: So, if you have time, don't miss Canarian islands. Rent a car and do as much as possible on each of them. If you happen to be in Gran Canaria on a Friday evening, don't miss Sioux City (a copy of a Far West village, with cowboys, Saloon, guns shots etc, plus a barbeque with plenty of food and lots of drinks).
If interested, you can see the pics. I posted in my blog.
