Hi everyone,

Well it's my first trip to Spain (or Europe for that matter) ever. Any tips would be appreciated. I arrive early morning May 17 and will leave early evening May 27th. So, a good 10 days.

This is my planned (or very roughly planned) itinerary:
May 17-18: Arrive in Madrid, take the train to Malaga, take the bus to Algecirus, take the ferry to Tangiers, Morocco...

May 19-20-Seville

May 21-22 Granada, and head to Barcelona

May 23-24 Explore Barcelona

May 25-26 Back to Madrid

I know this is very general, but conceivably, could I do this?

Any advice is appreciated.

Best regards,

Sounds like a good itinerary, the only comment I'd say is that I'd skip Tangiers, it's a mammoth journey to get there (Madrid to Algerciras by bus and train and then the ferry - you will basically write off near enough a day just travelling.) Instead, I'd be tempted to use these couple of days to go somewhere else on mainland Spain, maybe somewhere like Ronda, Jerez or Cadiz which are all great places and you'd be able to spend a bit longer in them than if you went to Tangiers (your schedule wouldn't allow for much time there.) Tangiers is an interesting experience but the Spanish cities are absolutely fantastic too. Reply to this

I think that sounds like good advice. Tangiers within that time frame would be hard to do and there's plenty of arabic influence in the southern parts of Spain to keep you occupied. I would probably use an extra day in Barcelona as there's so much going on there now. I stayed in an apartment there last time via this company Barcelona apartments There are also plenty of wonderful fishing villages along the Costa Brava coast including one called Palafrugell. Have fun, and don't miss the Sagrada Familia by Gaudi in Barcelona!

If you are trying to learn Spanish while you are there, there is a free site called Loquella.com that offers free Spanish lessons.

Here's the link:
