Looking for for information about starting a travel blog.
Greetings,
Our family will be going on a 1.5 year RTW trip. We want to blog. We are trying to decide what our needs will be. I happened up on this site and have a few questions.
1) Are there space restrictions for photos and whatnot?
2) Does Travelblogs provide Doman Name hosting services?
3) We plan to be in China, Vietname, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Borneo, India, Jordan, Egypt, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador. Any know problems with these areas (Connections, blocking, where are the servers located etc.).
Thank you kindly for your help.
Reply to this Hi datadan,
Welcome to the TravelBlog community!
1 - no space restrictions, but only a low resolution copy of the photos you upload is stored on the TB servers, so make sure you back up your high resolution copies of images (and backup the backups!).
2 - TB is a blog site, not a domain name registrar or hosting service sorry.
3 - Of the countries you mentioned I've only personally been to Thailand and Peru, and didn't have any problems there but the Great Firewall of China will quite possibly cause an issue. If you don't get a more helpful answer here for #3 try posting in either the General travel forum.

You may also want to look into bloggers (travelling with or without families) as they may have some insight into current details during their travels). We've got tons of bloggers in lot of the areas you've listed who often provide a lot of detail in their blogs. 😊
Reply to this We have a lot of bloggers in China so I don't think firewall causes massive issues there like some other blog sites suffer.
Sounds like a cool trip!
Reply to this Datadan, welcome to travel blog.
I hope you decide to blog on this site.....it is great. Your trip sounds fantastic and we want to read about it.
Reply to this Any motorhome tour is much appreciated. We started travelling 5 years ago and had little idea of what to expect . Had fun travelling mostly in Europe learning about everything as we went along. Blogs from other motorhomers are fantastic to read as they gave us ideas before we even set out . Enjoy - its a fantastic life style
Reply to this First blog is ready to publish....can someone remind me what is the difference between quiet publish and publish? Thks
Reply to this Welcome to TravelBlog, John!
Publish is the standard publishing route, which will send an email notification to your subscribers letting them know that you've published a new public blog.
Quiet Publish will publicly publish your blog, but will not send an email notification to your subscribers.
