How many times have you gotten lost while traveling? Do you have a great story?

From time to time we get lost or turned around in our travels. Dave loves using the map and I have an innate sense of direction.
We've had strangers help us, lead us to the location we were looking for. Do you prefer using a map or winging it? Any great stories about someone giving you horrible directions?

Love to hear your stories. Reply to this

That's an interesting question there !! Well, by God's grace, nothing of that sort has happened yet. Reply to this

Once when we were in the north of Thailand, we took a walk recommended by the place we were staying. It was supposed to be an easy trek to a hilltribe village, where you could hire a bamboo raft to take you back. When we got to the village, there was no raft. We decided to try following the river back instead. On the way, there were many times we had to cross the river. However, the river got wider and deeper and the sides got higher and more overgrown. Each crossing was hairer than the last. We didn't know how far we were from where we were staying, or really, where we were. It started to get dark. In this part of the world, it gets dark really really quickly. Eventually, we realised we would have to cross the river again. We walked down to the side, where it was flowing really fast. We held our bags above our heads and started trying to get across.....

Luckily, some workmen appeared nearby, and started waving to us. They pointed to a section of the river. We were confused and didn't know what they meant. Then one waded out into the river, where he could stand ankle deep. There was a sandbank going across.

That's probably a time when we were lost and it was dangerous. Otherwise, we just get ourselves lost so we can explore and find where we are again.

I have no sense of direction at all. When I walk out of a shop, I don't know which way I came in. Kris is better than me, luckily. Because of this, I learn maps of places we go. Then I can use landmarks and navigate myself.

I'm trying to think of a place that we haven't got lost in! Every time we take a map, check it constantly and ask for guidance to check were on the right path and ......we get lost! It does create a lot a laughter for us and adds to the vlogs that Zoe produces as well as letting us find some of the lesser, much lesser known areas that the tourist doesn't usually visit!
