According to reports, tourists must obtain an e-visa or paper visa prior to arrival. Details are found here on the government website - Turkish e-visa.

Full visa rules for all nationalities is listed here: Visa Requriements. Reply to this

This is correct and is going to cause some problems eg. travellers not planning in advance to visit the country will be stuck and for those without internet access (some of our family) which we are still working out how they will be able to come and visit us! Reply to this

New just in from one of the Turkish groups I follow......

This morning I opened the newspaper with the news that the E-visa for Turkey, which would be released by April 10, 2014, has been postponed. Turkey did so under pressure from the international travel industry, and the release of this E-visa is now moved to November 2014. However, the website of the Turkish government still reports that the visa will be on by April this year. The Dutch newspapers reported that the Turkish Government will give a reaction about it later this week.

.... Would go on the 'check before you travel' route Reply to this

A further update.....

Turkey adjusts the new E-visa system.

Turkey comes up with adjustments for the new E-visa system.

During the upcoming tourist season travelers can also get a visa through the old way.

The travel industry was upset about the rapid introduction of this new E-visa. On the website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the electronic visa is valid from April, but that there is a transition period and additional measures will be taken.

More languages will become available on the website and other payment options will become available as well. Travel companies can also apply for visas for an entire group. Turkish airports will be provided by computers for tourist who forgot to buy the E-visa in advance. Reply to this
