Trans Siberian Rail

I am planning on taking the TSR from Vladivostok to Moscow this Spring or Fall. I need information about the best places to stop, where to stay, what to see. Also, what class of travel on the TSR itself, the food, and the alcohol situation (not a big fan of bad vodka).

I would like to compile a nice list of 1)what to see and do, 2) where to stay, 3)where to stop, 4) class of travel on the TSR, 5)what to bring, mostly to eat and drink, 6)how much Russian I need to read and speak, and 7) how much money I might need.

There are some great blogs about the Transiberian, for example Beata and Tomek , Kate Topham 2 Brothers, 3 continents and Gray Railways journeys of the world are just some.

If you search on the forums, these questions have also been discussed a few times. Check out the Over land and sea forum

Have you found the website The man in Seat 61 He has information about travelling by rail all over the world including a comprehensive guide to traveling on the Transiberian.

Hope this helps
