Hi!
I\'m planning a UK trip of 2-3 weeks this summer. I\'ll land in Dublin, and intend to stay in Ireland for probably less than a week. I want to do some low-level hiking, experience country life, and I will probably rent a car. I\'ve heard the Ring of Kerry is wonderful. Is there another part of the island I should consider as well/instead? Reply to this

I spend for most of the last 5 years Ireland as my base to explore Europe and Africa. Ireland is full of great things to see. If I had five days and I wanted to do some hiking I would drive to Galway and then see a bit of the Connemara before going to the Doolin and the cliff. I will make my way back to Dublin via Killarney.

Hello Vero 😊

I am from Ireland. I recommend that you travel around the coast. That is where the best scenery is. Anywhere around the coast is nice.

I recommend that you cycle around the coast, as I did one summer. I got half way round the coast in 3 weeks, at a moderate pace. The reason I suggest this is because Ireland is the most expensive place in Europe to rent a car. You could instead replace the hiking and driving with cycling. Though, a week might not be long enough to make the most of a plan such as this one.

\'ll land in Dublin, and intend to stay in Ireland for probably less than a week.

Another option with such a short amount of time, would be to rent the car and just drive around Wicklow.Wicklow has really great mountain scenery. With a car, you could drive up to the highest point in the Wicklow mountains and eat at Johnny Foxs pub. That was one of my favourite things to do, when I lived in Dublin. You could also hike along parts of the Wicklow way. There are hostels along it, where you could stay over nights, if you want.

Definitely check out the Cliffs of Mohr, that's what my friend and I are planning on doing this summer when we go as well. We're also going on a horseback riding trip in Ireland. Reply to this
