Accommodation in Sydney

Looking for accommdation in Sydney or some alternative ideas for a different location

Hi

I'm leaving from Bangkok on 22nd Dec to fly into Sydney and need to find some decent accommodation in Sydney for at least 12 nights, i did'nt want to stay in Sydney that long due to how expensive it is, but my Visa runs out here and i have arranged to meet my friend from Melbourne for New Year in Sydney, does anyone have any good suggestions?

P.S. I'm in Vietnam now heading to cambodia to finish back in Thailand, when i re-enter Thailand will i get a 30 day visa? my mate who i'm travelling with says we cant do that anymore as since the 1st October 2006 after the military coupe they stopped renewing your visa.

We stayed at Maroubra Beach less than a half hour by city bus from downtown Sydney, for about half the cost of a downtown hotel. Great beach and good accomodation. There are a few spots there to choose from, some of which may not be full for the holidays (yet).

Sydney is great, but why not live/rent at Manly Beach which is only 15minutes by Jet Cat or 30 mins by ferry from the centre of Sydney. There is a good website called manlylife.com.au which has accomodation options, things to do, a gig guide, photos of the beach, the surf etc, etc so you can get an idea what its like. Check it out.

Hi Paul,

Last year when I come back to Sydney, I stay for a week or so in Travelodge Hotel.

It is close to the Macquarie University and Mazquarie Centre. I find it a good place to be in, clean, comfortable, not that expensive. As it is not in downtown Sydney, it will be more convenient if you rent a car. Here are the information.

Getting there: Exit the airport and turn right onto General Holmes Drive. Turn left onto Southern Cross Drive which will turn into the Eastern Distributor which you'll need to take. There is a toll fee payable. Exiting the distributor follow the signs to the Harbour Tunnel. Exiting the tunnel you will need to follow the Warringah Freeway to the Epping Road turn off. Take Epping road to Herring Road where you turn right and finally turn left onto Talavera Road.

Thanks for the response guys, as luck would have it, it's not what you know but who you know, i met a couple of Kiwi's in Vietnam and managed to stay with their cousin in a house in Manly.
